Hiring software engineers/designers is one of the hardest things to do.... We've been looking for a part time App Designer to join a new project we are working on that can code their own designs. Last time we put up a job posting, we had 350 applicants within 48 hours. And that was with 4 questions that we had as "Must Have's" that all 350 candidates claimed they had. Sorting through that was brutal. So, this time we're trying something different - and it's working extremely well. We've added an additional question to weed out the people who don't actually care and are just "quick applying." The instructions are simple. "Just mark No to the question to make sure you're reading these questions..." Within 24 hours of posting this job we've had 110 applications - 6 have answered all "Must Have's" correctly. Most of them have gotten one question wrong that automatically denies them.....🤯

Did you know SportyBet was the most visited betting website globally in March? 🤯 Source - SimilarWeb A huge amount of this comes down to the amount of work done by our teams and the growth we've continued to maintain across 2023 into 2024. Posted this 1st job for Aircircle & I learnt more about hiring in 24 hours than I did in a decade of professional life. Here's a no BS rundown: 1. It is hard to come up with a JD for a startup generalist. We needed an FE with strong design sense and posted the "Design Engineer" role trending on X. Turns out that is a term heavily used in automobile and aerospace engineering and many folks don't read the JD (I don't blame them. I have been there after getting exhausted from applying to 400+ jobs that I would get no replies for). This led to some iterations of our job post. Thank you LinkedIn Edit feature. 2. We had 42 applications within 2 hours of posting the job as a LinkedIn "Easy Apply" job. Only 8 of them were relevant. I have heard this advice from recruiters before but seeing it first hand that if a job post says 100 applicants, don't be scared to apply because most of them are irrelevant (LinkedIn automatically filters out half of them). 3. Resumes are the worst thing that can happen to a candidate, and the most soulless part of your career search, even if you put a smiling profile picture and festival lights on them. They mostly look the same and I still have no clue how recruiters find "good resumes" from that lot. I rather looked at a candidate's LinkedIn about section, their posts, featured links and linked portfolios to get a sense of the person's work and personality. 4. What a person is doing today matters more than what they did before. I chatted with someone I knew to be superstar engineer years ago and now they are very comfortable in their high paying job and very disconnected from the craziness of tech today. If I judged this person from their past work (or even current role), they would be a top candidate. 5. Not being cocky is important by replying to people who I felt were not relevant to the role with kindness because we want to live the culture we are advertising. Guess what, it does take effort and does get repetitive but candidates who quickly hear back are thankful that you let them know and didn't waste their time. 6. I have interviewed candidates before but the risk and power dynamics were completely different as I was just one of the interviewers. Imposter syndrome is much more real when you are the recruiter + decision maker + payer. I had all sorts of thoughts crossing my mind: What company culture and hiring process am I talking about when we are just a couple of guys figuring it out? Will this person ask for the higher side of the salary band and impact my burn rate? Do they just want this as a normal stable job or are they ready to risk this figuring out stage with us? Am I spewing corporate BS and behaving in a way that I didn't like about some recruiters when I was on the other side? Any founders here with similar learnings? What else did you learn that I haven't listed here (yet)? PS: If you are frontend engineer with a powerful sense of design anywhere in the world, please apply 🙏.
🚀 We're hiring a Frontend Engineer with a powerful sense of design at Aircircle to help us build the world's first Generative CRM. Pay 💰: $60k–$120k USD + equity. Location📍: Remote worldwide OR our office in Hamburg, Germany What we're looking for 🔭 : 🤯 Exceptional design and product sense 🥷 Expert skills in React and TypeScript 👨💻 Self-motivated, curious, action-oriented, and kind 🎓 We value your current skills and collaboration ability over formal education or years of experience How to apply: Email careers[at]aircircle .ai with your resume, portfolio, video, or a fully-built app - your choice. Hiring! Hey! If you don't know yet, I have been working on this idea which solves most of your notification problems. It is called notifybear and what it does is that it tracks your favorite content creators across multiple platforms. Essentially it will send you a notification every time your favorite content creator post anything on the internet, and it is fully customizable. As time goes I will share more about what I am trying to build. But for now I am looking for someone who could potentially help me in this build. Therefore, I am hiring an Android/iOS Developer having worked with technologies like React Native or Flutter and have experience in developing cross platform applications. You can comment interested and drop your email id in the comment section below if you believe that this is something which excites you. You can also refer this to someone you know, who knows we find our gem through you💎. We are a very young venture and your support is needed and appreciated. Be kind at us 😥. #hiring #softwareengineer #appdev
