“National Mentoring Day,” celebrated on October 27th, is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the transformative power of mentoring. This day emphasizes the importance of guiding and supporting others, particularly youth, in various aspects of their lives. Mentoring plays a crucial role in youth development, offering career guidance that helps young people navigate their professional paths. Mentors share their experiences, provide networking opportunities, and assist mentees in setting realistic and achievable career goals. This guidance can be the difference between a young person feeling lost and finding a clear direction in their career. Physical well-being is another area where mentors can make a significant impact. By encouraging healthy habits and physical activity, mentors inspire youth to adopt a balanced lifestyle. They emphasize the importance of exercise, nutrition, and overall physical health, which are essential for a fulfilling life. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and mentors can offer invaluable support in this area. By providing a listening ear and emotional support, mentors help young people develop coping strategies for stress and anxiety. This support fosters resilience and a positive mindset, which are crucial for navigating life’s challenges. Spiritual growth can be a source of comfort and strength for those who seek it. Mentors can help youth explore their spiritual beliefs, find meaning and purpose, and develop a sense of inner peace. This guidance can be particularly grounding in a chaotic and overwhelming world. Mentoring matters because it builds confidence, helping mentees believe in themselves and their abilities. This boost in confidence can lead to greater achievements and a more positive outlook on life. Positive role models provided by mentors inspire youth to strive for excellence and make better life choices. Additionally, having a mentor creates a support system, offering someone to turn to in times of need, which can be incredibly reassuring and empowering. By investing time and effort into mentoring, we can significantly impact young people's lives, helping them grow into well-rounded, successful, and happy individuals. Do you have any experience with mentoring, either as a mentor or a mentee? Sharing your story and experiences with others could inspire them to take up the mantle of mentorship and make a difference in someone’s life. #NationalMentoringDay #MentoringMonth #YouthDevelopment #Mentoring #PositiveRoleModels #SupportSystem #MentalHealthSupport #Wellbeing

The end of the academic year is quickly approaching for schools on traditional academic calendars, which means many mentors and mentees, particularly those involved in school-based mentoring programs, must consider the future of their mentoring relationships. Instead of officially closing their mentoring relationships, some matches participating in school-based mentoring programs may choose to meet in an alternative location, meet at different times or frequencies during the summer months, or take a break from communication between academic school years. Read our tips for redefining mentoring relationships during the summer break in healthy ways: https://lnkd.in/eQS6t_p3 #youthmentoring

IS MENTORSHIP A MUST? (From a mentee's angle) Let's tell ourselves the truth, it's not, and that's on period, or whatever the Gen-Zs are saying these days. Here are some other things that are not a must..... 📍Avoiding life, career, business, and relationship pitfalls because you're learning from the mistakes of others. 📍Shortening your journey to success because you're making informed decisions, standing on the shoulders of those who have gone ahead of you. 📍Being invited to sit on tables and in meetings you're not qualified for because someone who is qualified recommended you when the list was being drawn up. 📍Getting support/sponsorship to enhance your professional development because someone believes your dreams are valid, and is cheering you on. 📍Getting honoured and served because you have faithfully served another. (Service is the pathway to honour). So, Yes! Mentorship is not a must, and so are all the other success factors associated with getting under mentorship. As for me and my house (House of El-Ivy. Lol), we will continue to submit under mentorship, until the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. (if you know you know)😁 Now, stop asking and get under mentorship already! We need you growing up fast because there's success and global dominance waiting for you! ------------------------------ 📍Are you currently under any form of mentorship? Let's continue the discuss in the comment session. How has being under mentorship helped your personal and professional development journey? Do share, so someone can learn from your experiences too. ------------------------------- 📷POV: One of my mentees facilitating a Personal development session on the topic, "Goal Setting and Academic Success" at the 2024 Y-SIPS Foundation Mentoring Academy for #LarvicStudents. Ps: 6 years ago, she was battered and bruised and questioned her entire existence. 6 years after being in my inner circle mentorship group for young women, she's running a mentoring circle for ladies, doubling as a teen coach, and organizing community projects for teen mums. That's the power of mentorship! #Mentorship #personaldevelopment #growth #professionaldevelopment #successhacks #mentoringandcoaching

Caring for our youth - mentoring can make a world of difference to someone 🌟 Mentoring is a very powerful process and can be helpful in many different situations. My focus here is on our youth that needs us more than ever. Why? Youth unemployment rates are consistently higher than those of adults. Social isolation is a significant issue among young people, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. 10-20% of adolescents globally experience mental health conditions. This is what is reported through global organizations such as WHO, ILO and it is consistent with what we hear from the news every day. For me it is worrying, and it calls for action. Why mentoring? 🔸 By providing mentorship, we can empower young individuals to believe in their potential and pursue their dreams with confidence. We can also offer invaluable guidance, helping to navigate through educational and early career challenges. 🔸 Many young people face significant difficulties or lack that encouraging adult to talk to; a supportive mentor can make a world of difference in the personal and professional growth. 🔸 As a mentor, you'll learn and grow just as much as your mentees. You’ll gain fresh perspectives and new insights and sometimes even create lasting relationships. 🔸 Mentoring is an investment to the future. Strong, supported youth contribute to stronger, more resilient communities and societies. These are all compelling reasons why I have decided to dedicate part of my time to do pro-bono mentoring for young individuals. I am currently a Mentor in a mentoring program led by Suomen Mentorit (Mentors of Finland), where an impressive number of 175 mentoring pairs are currently on their mentoring journey aiming to support young individuals in their transition to working life and mapping their own path. Read more. My mentee is Eveliina Autio who is a dedicated professional graduated from Aalto University, currently looking for a job. A few words from Eveliina on mentoring “Mentoring has provided me with a valuable space to express my thoughts, ideas, and questions on career related topics at this transitional time in my life. Tarja has shared her experiences, provided feedback, and asked me thought provoking questions. This has enabled me to assess my career aspirations from new perspectives. We have covered topics including values, dreams, and CV skills with many more topics to come. Our conversations have been incredibly valuable to me, and I believe that many other young professionals would highly benefit from having a mentor as well." I am calling on you to make a difference in someone’s life through mentoring. Reach out if you want to discuss finding the right program for you or how your organization can accelerate efforts in caring for youth. There are many ways to make a difference 🌍✨, how are you contributing today 🌟🙌? #MentoringMatters #YouthEmpowerment #DareToCare #ProBono #ChangeMaker #BetterFuture #InclusiveGrowth #CorporateSocialResponsibility

At Child Development Schools, we take immense pride in our company-wide mentoring program, IGNITE, a cornerstone of our commitment to professional growth and development. This initiative pairs experienced mentors with eager mentees to foster skill-building, capability enhancement, and meaningful relationships. Beyond these benefits, it also facilitates valuable knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities. We have six mentors this year who’ve volunteered their time and talents to coach a mentee who is looking to grow in our company. We’d like to share some wisdom from one of our mentees, Monica Beasley, School Achievement Manager. Q: Can you describe your approach to mentoring? What makes an effective mentor-mentee relationship? A: The most important part of being a mentor is actively listening. By doing so, there is a level of communication that is unlocked. Once this happens, it’s almost like a code is cracked and the mentee feels they have a space to share their goals, fears, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities. Q: What is the most rewarding part of being a mentor for you? A: I love when it clicks! Fueling someone’s passion is equally fulfilling and exhilarating. Q: What are the key qualities you believe every mentor should possess? A: A mentor should have excellent communication skills and the ability to adjust to a flow that’s most effective for the mentee. Providing the mentee with challenges that foster professional growth is key.

Three key factors that lead to mentor satisfaction - https://lnkd.in/eij98mmT Martin, S. M., & Sifers, S. K. (2012). An evaluation of factors leading to mentor satisfaction with the mentoring relationship. Children and Youth Services Review, 34(5), 940-945. Summarized by Bridget Nestor, Editorial Assistant, Chronicle of Evidence-Based Mentoring Introduction: Research suggests that mentoring relationships can provide positive outcomes for both mentor and mentee. Most literature, however, has focused on how mentoring relationships can benefit mentees; less is know about how these relationships can particularly benefit mentors. Martin and Sifers (2012) explored how three factors could influence mentor satisfaction within youth mentoring relationships: perceived training for the mentor, perceived involvement and support from […] The Chronicle of Evidence-Based Mentoring
