Yesterday OEUK Wells Conference was sold out, I want to say thanks to the amazing speakers and audience that really helped deliver such an outstanding event. The agenda, questions and side conversations demonstrated that the Wells Community are already evolving into different aspects by decarbonisation of current activity, CCUS wells & 24x7 renewable energy geothermal wells. In addition, industry is supporting the next generation through Developing the Young Workforce helping with an Energy Sector Framework as part of the Young Persons Guarantee. I want to impress it is not an industry sitting still, it is being driven by people who are improving on the current challenges and evolving into new areas and applications. Wells can help unlock the energy transition. We cannot drop these people & families and industry into the gap being created by potential fiscal change, it requires politicians, people, and businesses pulling the gap together not pulling apart. Nothing demonstrated this better than the societal benefits of decarbonising their activity, resulting in an increased donation to local charities not a bottom line. There were other presenters focusing on how they are helping hard to abate industries with emissions through CCUS. 📢 Shell has taken a Final Investment Decision (#FID) to progress REFHYNE II, a 100-megawatt #renewable proton-exchange membrane (PEM) #hydrogen electrolyser at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland in Germany. 💧 🌿 Using #renewableelectricity, REFHYNE II is expected to produce up to 44,000 kilograms per day of #renewablehydrogen to partially decarbonise site operations. The #electrolyser is scheduled to begin operating in 2027. “The #hydrogensector is proceeding, but what is urgently needed are the final investment decisions (FIDs) and news as the one from Shell today are much needed. There will be more being announced in the next weeks and months. Congratulations to H2Accelerate member Shell on their Final Investment Decision on the Refhyne II Project, which will construct a 100MW electrolyser at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland, Germany. This decision demonstrates the crucial role of supportive EU and national policies on enabling hydrogen projects to reach financial maturity. The project is further supported by H2Accelerate member Linde, and will use PEM electrolysers from ITM Power. Collaborative projects are essential during the scale-up of low carbon technologies, and the H2Accelerate collaboration welcomes news of its members working with other key industry players to deliver large-scale projects. Building on the experience of the partners gained in the 10MW REFHYNE project and having received funding from the EU's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, the project also shows the important role of funding in enabling industry to build experience in renewable technologies and invest in increasing scales of deployment. #hydrogen #refhyne

💥 The RNG & SAF Conference was excellent. Met a lot of great folks - learned a ton - but also realized how disjointed the RNG/SAF/Hydrogen/Bio-Fuels Space really is... 🤢 I feel like the overarching theme of the conference was how to Utilize Renewables & RNG for more than just Electrification, to start focusing our efforts on the Transportation and Trucking Sector. Also, how RNG is the building block and catalyst towards catapulting SAF/Hydrogen and other advanced fuels into mass production at more economic levels. I would say some of the biggest challenges we face is that nobody knew the exact price for the price per KG of Hydrogen or the price per mcf for RNG, which is the tip of the Speer. This market needs more transparency and a standardized index like Henry Hub or WTI, which one of the panelists suggested. We also need more states to adopt the California LCFS model so we can eliminate our supply glut into the California markets, providing necessary demand and liquidity, which was also suggested by a panelist. Lots of thought leaders out there paving the way for the RNG & Bio-Fuel Space to expand and grow at unprecedented levels - I appreciate and am grateful to have had the ability to collaborate with all of these experts over the last few days while in Houston. #ironsharpensiron #RNG #renewables #hydrogenrevloution #SAF #renewablenergyfinance

💡 OXY & XOM: Leading with CCUS for Enhanced Oil & Gas Efficiency 📊 Key takeaway: Decarbonization has been a threat to the oil and gas industry, which is a primary contributor to global emissions. However, through carbon capture utilization and storage technology, the industry has found ways to improve its operational performance, while reducing its carbon footprint. As a result, this technology is attracting significant investments, and the global CO2 capture capacity is expected to triple between 2020 and 2030. This will create winners across multiple sectors. Within the cleantech space, we believe majors like Occidental Petroleum (OXY) and ExxonMobil (XOM) – that are taking the lead and investing in this technology to emerge as leaders – are the best bets that should be on investors’ radars.
