𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, in tandem, can be manifold beyond measure.
That’s the opportunity that the 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹 offers, and why it matters to us at GRUNDFOS.
Europe faces high energy prices, complex regulations, and inefficient resource use.
To stay competitive and ensure a Europe where people and industries thrive, and where sustainable growth is the norm, 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
GRUNDFOS already supports industries with reaching their water and climate goals more efficiently and effectively, without compromising on performance.
But there is much more to be done, and it needs industry leaders and policy makers to come together, supporting, developing, and sharing cost-efficient decarbonisation and water management solutions.
Together with partners like Danfoss, we support the EU Commission in creating policies that make these transitions growth drivers for Europe.
𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: We believe Clean Industrial Deal should focus on:
• Rapid implementation of existing legislation
• Long-term, adaptable policy frameworks
• Targeted measures to address gaps
• Public acceptance of the green transition
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
1. Implement solutions with relatively short pay-back times and mandatory energy audits.
2. Set accelerated targets for electrification, strengthening of grids, and supporting SMEs.
3. Implement advanced water management systems to reduce water use and improve water recycling in industrial processes.
4. Utilise waste heat and improve energy system flexibility.
5. Provide predictable financing and create industrial partnerships.
Especially on the last point I must add that besides benefiting the climate, economy, and people at large, investing in energy efficiency and electrification is a critical – and cost-effective – step in bolstering energy security and lowering industrial energy costs in the long term.
#Together, we can secure Europe’s sustainable industrial growth, with efficient energy and sustainable water use at the forefront.
The European industry is ready to turn the greatest challenge of our time into an opportunity.
When we met in the Sønderborg near our Danish headquarter campus in October for the “Powering European Industry” summit, our discussions led to three key conclusions:
1. We share a concern about the decline in European competitiveness.
2. We share a vision of Europe as a dynamic continent where people thrive, because Europe is an attractive market for investment and for industries.
3. We share a commitment to Europe and to doing our part in developing, implementing, and sharing information about solutions that help turn decarbonization into growth.
Since October, we’ve continued the dialogue and closely followed the new European Commission’s promising plans for action. As we await the new Clean Industrial Deal, we’re offering our perspective on how opportunities within energy efficiency, electrification, and sector integration can help turn our vision into reality.
We will send our joint proposal today and we all hope it will be well received, and that we can work with the Commission to create the Europe we all want and need.
Thanks to all the companies joining us in this ABB, Alfa Laval, Carrier, GRUNDFOS, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Trane Technologies and VELUX. And to our co-organizers of the event in October International Energy Agency (IEA), BusinessEurope and DI - Dansk Industri.
As Mario Draghi said when he launched his report on EU competitiveness: “Decarbonization must become a source of growth.”
