And in fact it needs a vision and courage to travel (for business) to the locations or places where there is no settled business, leads or channel partners because you need to start from somewhere. Sales demand two separate activities parallel; #One, To handle the existing sales, leads, partners; and #Two, To explore new geographic areas and to penetrate more in the existing geographic areas too. It is always recommended to grow in a vertical and horizontal as well or else in the long run no growth will be happening. Taking that first step and putting efforts into the raw areas are painful but someday this pain would get converted into good things. Sales is easy, but difficult is to make a foundation for the future business and sales, and this is the reason why most sales-people are only comfortable and dependent on the leads and orders provided by them through an autonomous system of sales and revenue generation. And the people who like to dig their own well for the thirst, will never go out of the water ever. Give your 100% or leave the race. Stay hungry. Stay foolish! 💡 #SaurabhTalks 📸 courtesy clicked this week in Delhi metro by Izhar Ansari. Checking emails on the phone while headed to a partner's place for a meeting.

As I come to the end of my stint as an Area Sales Manager (ASM) in Mumbai, I wanted to reflect on some of the key learnings I have got during the past ~2.5 years leading a large sales team (Part 1 of 2) 1. You are the CEO of your area During my first formal interaction with Kedar Lele, he said this very memorable quote - "After the CEO of HUL, the ASM is the most powerful role in the company". As an ASM you have all the liberty and power to drive your own agenda and projects. What you decide, goes. Use that to experiment and discover new avenues of growth. 2. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty When you see something, do something. Don't assume someone else will pick it up if you ignore it. For example, when solving distributor issues, get into the details and keep chasing relevant stakeholders until the problem is resolved. The minute you stop following up is the minute progress on the solution will stop. 3. You are your people's voice As the manager of the team, your team is relying on you for their career development. If you don't fight for them, nobody will. You are their voice for any promotion cases, cross laning opportunities, visibility with senior stakeholders, target exceptions, etc. Especially in large organizations, it is key to highlight strong performers to senior management so that they are top of mind when new opportunities arise. 4. Cross functional networking is critical Ensure you are on good working terms with all your partner functions - Supply chain, Customer Marketing, Finance, HR, etc. Strong relationships with these teams will ensure you get your work done more seamlessly and efficiently. To be continued...

3 Essentials for #Successful #Salescall In sales, there are three key steps that make all the difference: before, during, and after the call. Here’s how to make each stage count: 1. #Preparation is Key Before stepping into a sales call, preparation is everything. A sales executive should be well-versed in their product/service and familiar with the customer’s business. This means knowing what they do, who their current vendors are, and if they have any pain points. Without a plan, success is far less likely—after all, “failing to plan is planning to fail.” 2. Engaging with #Purpose When you’re in the meeting, start by greeting the customer warmly. Focus on the value you can provide, and avoid jumping straight into the sales pitch. Sometimes the customer might say they don’t have time or that another vendor is already supplying them. Even if you hear a “no,” stay positive and confident. Remember, “NO” can stand for “Next Opportunity.” Build a strong rapport before you leave. 3. #Followup Matters Many sales are closed thanks to effective follow-up. After the call, make sure to check in and address any lingering questions or needs. By planning ahead, engaging thoughtfully, and following up, we can take our sales performance to the next level. It's too expensive! #Overcoming #PriceObjections in #Sales. In sales, one of the most common objections we face is hearing, "It's too expensive." When a customer says this, it’s important to understand the underlying reasons. Typically, they may either find the product genuinely unaffordable, or they are comparing it to a competitor’s offering and believe it’s overpriced. To overcome this objection, the key is to shift the focus from price to value. Instead of dwelling on the cost, guide the customer to understand the outcomes, benefits, and long-term value of the product or service. For example, take two cars—one priced at 10 lakhs and another at 100 lakhs. While both fulfil the same basic need—transportation—the more expensive car offers significant differences in safety, comfort, and status. In the same way, we must help customers see the added value and advantages our product delivers. For those who genuinely cannot afford the product, it’s essential to recognize that convincing them may not be the best approach. Instead, focus on finding and engaging with the right customers who appreciate the value and can make the investment. Ultimately, successful sales come from aligning the right product with the right customer, while clearly communicating the value that justifies the price.
