Patrick O. Okigbo III’s Post

Earlier today, I presented the keynote speech at the stakeholders’ roundtable to upscale inclusive businesses in Nigeria. The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, in collaboration with GIZ Nigeria & ECOWAS, organised the event. ENDING EXTREME POVERTY IN NIGERIA Upscaling the Inclusive Business Approach Can Nigeria overcome extreme poverty? Can the emerging Inclusive Business approach provide a solution? If so, what role should the government and other key stakeholders play? This paper discusses Nigeria's troubling socioeconomic situation, focusing on ineffective intervention models and how the inclusive business approach can address these challenges. I explored how to expand the inclusive business approach as a potential solution to Nigeria's extreme poverty. The Nextier Akinropo Omoware Esq. Christian Jahn Markus Dietrich Ana Vinambres

I totally agree with your speech sir . Nigeria is a poor country and the poor people are mostly not seen by those in position to help because they are mostly in rural areas; that's where they can afford to stay. Hence the need for Inclusive business. This is in line with my everyday strong recommendation for Nigeria to invest more in rural development. Ideally they say your heart will always be where your treasure is, I wonder why that is not obtainable in Nigeria; our treasures are mostly in these neglected rural communities. For example, the recent worsening food insecurity in Nigeria is widely contributed by the security challenges faced by farmers in rural areas; it's not rocket science, if these farmers don't get to farm, we don't get to have enough food. Today, we have a vicious cycle of vulnerability in rural areas because of threats like climate change, conflict, and insecurity, with unmatched intervention from the government and relevant stakeholders.
