Sandvik books in major order from Evolution Mining for Australian mines Sandvik has received a major underground mining equipment order from Australian-based Evolution Mining. The order was booked in the second quarter and valued at approximately SEK 300 million. Deliveries are scheduled through Q2 2025. The order includes Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions’ advanced #underground #loaders (#LHDs), #trucks and development #drills, to be implemented in different mines in Australia. “We are very pleased that we continue to be a trusted partner to Evolution Mining and that we strengthen our partnership further as they renew big part of their fleet,” says Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions. Evolution’s principal underground operations in Australia are the recently acquired #Northparkes (80%) #copper-#gold mine in NSW, the #ErnestHenry (100%) copper-gold mine in #Queensland, and the #Mungari (100%) gold mine in #WesternAustralia. Sandvik will deliver #Toro™ #TH663i trucks and Toro™ #LH621i loaders to optimise operational efficiency and support ongoing mine development initiatives at Ernest Henry. Mungari Operations will receive Toro™ TH663i and Toro™ TH551i trucks, Toro™ #LH517i loaders and two Sandvik #DD422i development drills. Evolution is also integrating a Toro™ #LH514 loader into the Northparkes fleet. Redpath to acquire RUC Mining Redpath (Australia) Holdings Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of REDPATH MINING Inc, has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire RUC Mining Contractors Pty Ltd (RUC). Pending regulatory approvals, it is expected that the acquisition will be completed and for RUC to officially become part of Redpath by June 2024. George Flumerfelt, Chief Executive Officer at The Redpath Group, said the acquisition reconfirms Redpath’s position as a global leader in mine development, shaft sinking and raise drilling services. “Redpath has held RUC in high regard for a long time and this agreement is evidence of the quality of service and expertise it sees across the RUC team. Our combined capabilities will be a compelling proposition to customers and strengthen our position in capturing large and important projects in the future,” said Flumerfelt. “Acquiring RUC will give Redpath enhanced scale, capabilities and stronger balance sheet to strengthen our market position and fund growth, particularly in the Australian, African, European and Asian markets.” “Our presence in the Australian market will be comprehensive, with a country-wide footprint able to provide a full range of services and support from both the east and west coasts, benefitting customers and employees.” Once complete, the acquisition will enable Redpath it says to deliver a more diverse range of services to customers and opportunities to employees, including: Mechanised mining: A single company that brings together the best of Redpath and RUC to offer customers comprehensive capability and reach. Operational Update - Cloncurry Copper Project Wallace North is mine ready and survey set-out to the mine footprint. Our Mining Operations Team have undertaken significant mining preparation to facilitate TNC to commence mining ore at Wallace North in early Q4 FY24. Mining preparation at Wallace North progressed in March 2024 (as access and mine areas dried after monsoonal rainfall events in February and early March) including the following: - Mobilisation of mining equipment and support infrastructure to the Wallace North project site. - Preparation of existing access and haulage roads for upcoming mining activities. - Completion of short-term mine scheduling by technical service teams. - Onboarding of skilled mining fleet operators. The mining ramp-up will initially build ore stockpiles, with haulage expected to start in mid-May 2024. Oxide ore will be transported by road train to the Cloncurry Operations Hub's heap leach. Sulphide ore will be transported to a nearby concentrator for toll treatment under TNC's toll-milling agreement with Glencore. True North Copper’s Managing Director, Marty Costello said: “This is an exciting and transformative phase for TNC. Thanks to the hard work of our Mining Operations Team we are prepared and ready to deliver on our Cloncurry Copper Project Mining Restart Plan with mining commencing at Wallace North in early Q4 FY24. CCP project economics confirm a robust mining operation that is low risk and low-cost. Projected mine revenue is A$367M with a free cash flow of A$111M. BHP approaches Anglo American with buyout proposal Mining heavyweight Anglo American on Thursday confirmed that it had received an unsolicited, nonbinding takeover proposal from commodities rival BHP Group, potentially transforming the mining industry landscape. The proposition entails an all-share offer for Anglo American, coupled with plans for Anglo to demerge its holdings in South Africa-focused Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) and Kumba Iron Ore to its shareholders. These components of the proposal are mutually dependent. If a deal materialises, it would grant BHP access to more copper, which is increasingly vital amid growing demand for clean energy. Further, BHP would also gain more exposure to potash and expand its presence in the coking coal market in Australia. "From a strategic standpoint, bigger is always better in the metals and mining sector," CreditSights analysts Wen Li and Michael O'Brien said in a note.
