BowTies for asset serviceability risk! We're beyond excited to announce that Ross McCorrisken will be speaking at our upcoming event 'Visualising Knowledge, Operationalising Wisdom' in Manchester, UK. Ross has worked in the water industry for 12 years as an Asset Management & Reliability Practitioner. Starting his career in 2012 with Scottish Water as an Asset Management Apprentice, working across a number of directorates within the business before becoming an Asset Planner. In his role as an asset planner, he was accountable for the investment strategy across a number of wastewater catchments to ensure that they protected and enhanced the environment, delivered services for customers and enabled sustainable and inclusive development. In 2021 he was promoted to the role of Technical Team Manager and established the Asset Risk & Reliability team. This team is responsible for developing risk and reliability products to enable decision makers to make operational and strategic decisions to Scottish Water assets in-line with the Scottish Water strategic ambitions. Outside of work Ross enjoys volunteering within the local community, DIY projects and traveling. Every day our teams across the wastewater service conduct service risk assessments in support of promoting interventions to our asset base. Historically these assessments have been conducted using a variety of tools and approaches which were heavily influenced by the knowledge of the person conducting the assessment and was often complex and challenging to view and understand the outputs. We have developed a tool using the Bow-Tie method to conduct service risk assessments across our assets to make the process more visual and engaging. We have developed a corporate standard which we are able to deploy using the solution to ensure compliance with minimum asset standards in our management approaches which detail our interventions for asset groups. Reserve your spot today by registering using this link https://lnkd.in/d5PN5Rex We are looking forward to seeing you there 😊 Resilium Resilium UK #VisualisingKnowledgeOperationalisingWisdom #Event #ScottishWater

The traditional view of risk management in M&A and Asset Management often focuses solely on implementing sound risk practices. However, there's a growing recognition that this approach may be limiting. The 'beyond safety' concept challenges us to reconsider how we derive value from our organisations. It suggests that catching risks early creates opportunities for safety and improved organisational productivity. Key insights from our blog 👀: ➡️How modern, complex adaptive businesses operate differently from traditional models ➡️The connection between early risk identification and organizational productivity ➡️Achieving reliability, integrity, and availability in physical assets and operations This perspective encourages a fundamental shift in how we approach organisational design and culture, particularly in M&A and Asset Management teams. We invite you to visit our Thinking Manager musings and read our full blog post for a deeper exploration of these ideas. #OrganisationalDesign #RiskManagement #AssetManagement #M&A #RiskvOpportunity ARMSA Academy #safetyfromwithin #thinkhalt #beyondsafety #renewableenergy #windenergy #solar

I just wanted to share how amazing my first PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada conference in Saint John, NB was this week! From the engaging sessions to the opportunity to connect with so many passionate professionals, every moment was a highlight. While the audience primarily comprised engineers and technical professionals, I found immense value in immersing myself in their world. The discussions around optimizing asset performance and lifecycle management provided insights into the operational side of the business that I often don’t encounter in my day-to-day role. It was refreshing to see how engineering principles directly impact financial outcomes—cost efficiencies, risk management, and overall investment strategies. Hearing case studies and best practices from industry leaders highlighted the importance of cross-departmental collaboration. I realized how financial decisions are deeply intertwined with maintenance strategies, influencing everything from budgeting to long-term planning. Overall, the conference reinforced the idea that understanding the technical aspects of our business can enhance financial stewardship, making it a worthwhile experience for me. I can’t wait to bring back what I’ve learned and apply it to our projects. #AssetManagement #Maintenance #SmartAssetManagement #OperationalExcellence
