🎙️ Building Inclusion Light Bites 1 - What is inclusion? Last week was Global Inclusion Week, an annual awareness week that aims to shine a light on inclusion in a global context. For 2024, the annual theme from Inclusive Employers was ‘Cultural Intelligence: Inclusion Across Cultures’. In this video, taken from the first Building Inclusion Light Bites livestreams, Author Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP discusses Eugene Gilkes’s favourite quote from the book; “Inclusion is not about other people and their identities, it’s about their behaviours”. This year's National Inclusion Week is one of self-reflection at Monties. Inclusive Employers selected a great theme for this year: Impact Matters. As our post below highlights, we each have the power to make an impact. I can name a multitude of "big" and "small" decisions made by leaders around me over the years that have had a huge impact on me - both positively and negatively. It's often the small everyday decisions leaders, and others, make without thinking that can have the most impact. For example: > which junior colleagues that leaders choose to socialise with - are you being inclusive? > who gets to work with you on that high profile project - is that fair? > are you giving team members airtime with clients (in meetings and on calls) - do you advocate for, and sponsor, colleagues? Monties may be quiet on socials this week but there's lots going on in the background 👌🏽 Stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled to hear more about what we've been up to! 🙌🏽

Why Inclusion Matters to Me This year the theme for National Inclusion Week is “Impact Matters”. It’s a powerful reminder that each of us holds the potential to make a profound and positive impact. By understanding, identifying, and measuring our impact, we can take actions that lead to genuine, change. Inclusion is a fundamental value that shapes the world I want my daughter to grow up in. As a parent, I dream of a future where she is accepted for who she is, without judgment, and where acceptance is the norm. I believe that by championing inclusion, we can build a world where my daughter—and everyone else’s children—can grow up feeling empowered, supported, and free to be themselves. Let’s commit to making acceptance the first step in all our interactions, ensuring a brighter, more inclusive future for the next generation. #Inclusion #Diversity #Acceptance #ImpactMatters #FutureGenerations #NIW2024
