Belonging: Team Loyalty and Change There’s something about teams and benefits—you can’t claim to be part of a team without being included in its benefits structure. The benefits you receive are what give you that sense of belonging to the team. This goes beyond merely being part of the team; it extends to the respect you receive from fellow members. When you're the member who is constantly undervalued, the moment you find an opportunity to join another team, you move without hesitation. That’s why many employees leave their jobs for other opportunities, and why people leave their countries in search of greener pastures. It’s always about finding that sense of belonging. If things were working where you live or work, there would be little need to move.

Strength of a Great Team 💪🏻🛠️ ❓ In last couple of days there was a question wandering around in my head, that got me thinking about what it is that makes one company a great place to work in? 🤝🏻 In my experience, one of the most valuable assets in any working environment is the presence of great teamwork. A cohesive team can achieve remarkable outcomes, transforming challenges into opportunities and fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and support. 📈 When you are part of a great team, there is no room for panic, judgment, or selfishness. Instead, the focus shifts to a collective mindset of “how can we do this?” rather than “this is your project” or “I don’t have anything to do with it.” This shift in perspective is crucial; it encourages open communication and shared responsibility, allowing each member to contribute their unique strengths toward a common goal. 🧠 The sentence “more than one head is always smarter than just one” rings particularly true in a team setting. When individuals come together, they bring diverse perspectives and ideas that can lead to innovative solutions. I firmly believe that fostering good relationships with colleagues and lowering one’s ego is not only beneficial for personal growth but also essential for the success of the organization as a whole. 🙏🏻 I am very grateful to have had the pleasure of working in such teams throughout my career, where mutual respect and support have been the cornerstones of our achievements. In conclusion, the strength of a great team lies in its ability to unite individuals toward a shared vision. By prioritizing collaboration and maintaining positive colleague relations, we can create a workplace where everyone thrives, and together, there is truly nothing we cannot achieve. 👷♀️👷♂️ #teamwork

On my way to work, I always realize how much I look forward to it. Not just because of the work, but because of my colleagues. A good team at work is not just a pleasant bonus, but a key factor in any company's success. As someone who highly values work relationships, I want to share why this is so important to me. A great team is the foundation of a productive and harmonious work environment. A team where members trust and support each other is much more efficient and creative. When we know we can rely on our colleagues, stress and tension decrease, leading to better work outcomes. A good team also supports personal and professional growth. Learning from colleagues, sharing experiences, and motivating each other contributes to continuous improvement. A positive atmosphere in the team increases employee satisfaction, which directly impacts their engagement and loyalty to the company. I have personally been fortunate to work in great teams where we supported and pulled each other forward. These experiences have taught me that investing in building good relationships at work always pays off. If you have similar experiences or tips on how to build a great team, please share them in the comments!

What makes a great team? I had a chance to catch up with some colleagues recently and we got to talking about what made our team so great. We were productive, creative, and had fun together. As we broke it down, there were a few things that stood out: 1. Respect for each other. We were people with very different experiences who cheered each other on and respected our varying opinions. We worked hard to row in the same direction and did so with everyone's input. 2. Work/life balance. Our work was not so urgent that it couldn't wait until work hours to get done. As a manager, I did my best to protect the team's time, which made them more than happy to help after hours if needed. 3. Independence. I hate being micro-managed. Therefore, I try hard not to micromanage others, no matter how tempting. I hired these folks for a reason, and I gave them enough direction to take the ball and run. 4. We genuinely cared for each other. Even though we were virtual, we made sure to connect. When we had a chance to see each other in person, we would make it a point to go out and shoot the breeze. We learned about each others' kids, pets, parents....we knew each other as people. 5. We protected each other. When someone tried to place blame on an individual, we stood together as a team. Our team did not do the blame game. We took credit together and we took criticism together, but we did not allow all of it to fall on only one individual. It's the kind of team I hope to lead again. #EndofWeekReflection

What does it take to feel engaged and satisfied at work? Is it more money, higher status, perks like ping pong tables and cold brew on tap? None of the above. People need: ✔ Autonomy to control their work ✔ Recognition for their contributions ✔ To be of service to those around them ✔ To demonstrate mastery in their chosen craft ✔ To learn new skills to thrive and open additional doors ✔ To find purpose in a shared mission Different individuals want different mixes of the above. It’s up to you to know which of your team members are most motivated by the right cocktail of the activities above. If you simply try to reward with merit increases, but you’re missing the right ingredients, your team is going to leave. Simple as that.

🌟 The first day of my job—wasn't smooth sailing at all. 🤦♂️ I recall struggling with the first task, feeling far from confident in my abilities. 👥 Then, one of my team members approached me, making me feel at ease. They asked about my background, highlighting my past achievements, and even hinted at the "superpowers" they admired. This sudden boost in confidence empowered me to tackle bugs and fixes with newfound strength. 🤝 This is what a stellar team looks like. They understand your challenges, offer support, and cultivate an environment where everyone thrives. What type do you belong to, teamwork or individual contributor? Let me know in the comments P.S. I prefer both depending on the environment and the task but I do love to know some individual contributors out here.

Have you had the misfortune of having a workplace bully be part of your Management Team? It doesn't matter if you are a new intern or a Senior VP. A Workplace Bully makes the job untenable. It tears apart your team. It eventually makes you not care. Why would you want the bully to be supported and you to bring success to the company? It becomes impossible to work for and support someone you cannot trust in what they say and where if something goes wrong it is your fault and if something goes right it is all thanks to the bully. Sometimes if the company will listen this can be fixed and other times looking elsewhere is your only choice.

💡📚Embracing the Power of Knowledge Sharing In my professional journeys, I often emphasize individual achievements, but let's not forget the magic that happens when we come together as a team. When we freely exchange insights, expertise, and experiences, we create an environment ready for collaboration and success. I discovered a new tool recently launched on our platform that felt like a game changer. Without hesitation, I knew I had to share this gem with my team. In doing so, I not only contributed to their professional growth but also strengthened our capabilities as a team. It was a small moment, but it highlighted the immense value of knowledge sharing within our branch. Being a team is not just about sharing what we know, it's also about staying connected with each other. Yet, beyond the professional aspect, knowledge sharing is also deeply personal. It's about fostering a sense of belonging and support among colleagues, where everyone's voice is valued and heard. I strive to foster a culture of knowledge sharing, where collaboration thrives, and each member feels empowered to contribute their unique perspective.
