Transforming education with health programs At Tarang Health Alliance, we are committed to redefining the role of health education within the academic landscape. The Comprehensive School Health Program (CSHP) is our flagship initiative that provides students with essential tools for lifelong health. The program is currently running in around 30 schools in Delhi NCR, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, reaching over 8,500 students. Implementing the CSHP involves a collaborative effort with educational institutions, ensuring that health education becomes an integral part of existing curricula. We conduct teacher training sessions that equip educators with the necessary skills to convey health content effectively. These sessions cover crucial topics such as mental health awareness, nutrition, and physical fitness, enabling teachers to utilise innovative strategies that actively engage students. Additionally, our program employs hands-on approaches through workshops that allow students to practice healthy habits. For instance, cooking classes focused on nutrition educate students about healthy eating while engaging them in meal preparation. This experiential learning deepens their understanding of health concepts and encourages informed choices beyond the classroom. Through continuous assessment and feedback mechanisms, we adapt our curriculum to meet students' evolving needs, ensuring that health education remains relevant and impactful. As we progress, we are dedicated to expanding our reach and making health education a standard part of every student's experience. THA Curriculum | Interact, Inform, Inspire At Tarang Health Alliance (THA), our mission goes beyond traditional health education. Our curriculum not only informs but also inspires students to improve their health behaviour. Through interactive activities such as health models, role-playing, and discussions, we encourage students to explore essential topics like nutrition, mental health, and physical fitness in ways that resonate with them. This hands-on involvement helps students take ownership of their health, creating lasting habits. For example, we’ve introduced the Nutrition Mat, a visually engaging model to simplify taking a balanced meal every day. The mat helps students monitor portions of vegetables/fruits, grains, proteins, and dairy they consume daily. Additionally, our initiatives cover topics on mental and social well-being, offering a holistic approach to health education. Collaboration plays a critical role in our strategy. We partner with schools, educators, and parents to ensure that health education is an ongoing conversation that adapts to the needs of students. We also conduct sessions with parents of the students so that they become good role models of health at home. Parents play a key role in forming good healthy habits in their children. By incorporating feedback from both students and teachers, we continually refine our school health programme to enhance its relevance and impact. Our goal is to create a future where every child in India has a thorough understanding of health and wellness. Join us in this transformative journey towards cultivating a generation that values and prioritises health! #healtheducation #education #students #teachers #parents #curriculam Rahul Mehra UNESCO | Ministry of Education | Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India | Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) | National Council of Educational Research and Training ( NCERT ) | ICSE

The Alarming Education Crisis in Uttar Pradesh! Recent data from the Lok Sabha reveals a distressing scenario—over 11.7 million children across India are not enrolled in schools. Uttar Pradesh alone accounting for a staggering 7.85 lakh out-of-school students. States like Jharkhand and Assam are also grappling with thousands of children missing out on education. These numbers are more than statistics—they represent dreams deferred, potential lost, and futures at stake. Parliament's Education Minister Jayant Chaudhary responded to the question of Telugu Desham Party MP Mathukumili Shri Bharat from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh that more than 11 lakh 70 thousand students across the country are deprived of admission in schools. At DEVI Sansthan, we believe that education is the cornerstone of empowerment. By equipping young learners with Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills, we can transform not only individual lives but also the trajectory of our nation. Our Contribution to FLN: 1️⃣ Training Educators as Leaders – We empower teachers with innovative teaching methodologies, fostering a culture of lifelong learning. 2️⃣ Community-Centered Learning Models – Bridging the gap between schools and communities to create sustainable and inclusive education ecosystems. 3️⃣ Tech-Enabled Learning Resources – Leveraging technology to make quality education accessible to every child, regardless of their socio-economic background. 4️⃣ Policy Advocacy for FLN – Engaging with policymakers to prioritize foundational literacy and numeracy as a national imperative. It’s time for collective action to ensure every child’s Right to Education becomes a reality. Together, we can rewrite the future for these young minds and drive impactful change. P.S. BBC has published a documentary on Kota coaching factory showcasing dark side of it caused by mental trauma, depression and students are taking their lives in fear of success in exams to fulfill their dreams or parents dreams While it is time for parents to think before sending their kids to Kota at the same time government and coaching institutes promoters to get the problem sorted and work agressively on solutions Government should implement a strict student teacher ratio so the students get a teacher's attention #ministeryofeducation #Allenkota #KotaCoachings Direct coching centres to decentralise and make centers across the country tier 1 2 3 cities wherever possible so that students can stay with parents who can easily understand their condition.this would help to reduce the incidents at large Coaching centers to enable mental well-being monitoring of students with weekly fortnightly quizes or other way around to found valurnbale ones Coaching to stop selecting toppers and making a special batches for their own branding and propotioyat later stage. this is causing huge difference among students and those are at lower go in depression with peer pressure. Pvt Medical Colleges, Engineering college fees are huge and need immediate control so that those having lower marks with limited financial capability can opt these colleges There are many other ways I urge all the students to remain positive, getting admission in Medical IIT is not your success criteria make informed decisions do something else and prove your metal there but do not take your life and leave your parents crying😭 🙏🙏🙏 https://lnkd.in/dnKBGP8A

An effective learning environment encompasses many elements: blackboards, desks, dedicated teachers, and ample resources. But there’s another critical component that is often overlooked—sanitary facilities. In many remote schools in India, especially in the interiors, the absence of proper toilets is a pressing issue. When toilets do exist, they are often tiny, damp, poorly lit rooms lacking essential sanitary fixtures. This situation disproportionately affects girl students, leading to higher dropout rates and forcing those who remain to endure discomfort that directly hampers their learning experience. When two schools in Malur, Karnataka, reached out to us about this challenge, we knew we had to act. We made the decision to upgrade their sanitary infrastructure by providing separate, well-maintained toilets for boys and girls. Teachers, parents, and students alike have reported a noticeable transformation in the school atmosphere following the construction of these facilities. With improved sanitation, teachers are now eager to expand hygiene programs within the schools, such as proper hand-washing techniques and sanitary education for adolescent girls. Students, too, are relieved to finally have access to private, clean spaces for their needs. This initiative not only promotes better health and hygiene but also fosters a more conducive learning environment. It’s a powerful reminder that the underpinnings of learning go beyond conventional resources. R K Narayan, Mahendra W. “Learning through hands-on experience” – My Social Impact Measurement Journey! ✅ According to Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) policy of India, the first six years of life are critical, it is the period of most rapid growth and development that influences the pathways of physical, mental and behavior throughout the life cycle. United Way of Bengaluru is the early adapter of this policy and initiated a campaign called #BornLearningCampaign with an aim to provide safe and conducive nutritional and educational environment for children in the Anganwadi Centers. Anganwadi workers are central to this campaign. I am part of designing, executing the pre and post training information retention studies 🔍 and also looping back the learning in project execution. These assessments help in measuring training effectiveness. I administered tailored assessment tools specific to #trainingcontent focusing on basic knowledge on #ECCE, teaching skills, domains of #childdevelopment, numeracy skills, monitoring child development milestone and management of Anganwadi center. During our training, we saw improvement in Anganwadi workers' knowledge. Not only did correct answers increase from #preassessment to #postassessment🖋, but incorrect responses also significantly decreased. For example, Anganwadi workers understanding that children learn by "imitation" went up from 66% in the pre-test to 82% in the post-test. We also carried out follow-up #evaluations where post training we physically visited Anganwadi centers to measure the knowledge transfer from #Anganwadi worker to the children. Do visit the #nextpost to learn more about these evaluations. Lokesh Gujjarappa Bhagya Kumar Jyoti Gupta United Way Bengaluru

MID-DAY MEAL IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS: Major driving factor in thwarting school drop-outs? Less technology, Fewer faculties, Less infrastructure and equipment, and less exciting atmosphere are few of the words that often come to our mind when we think of a government-run school. Role of different actors like Department, Media, NGOs, Think-tanks, Researchers, Citizens and Parents to be blamed perhaps. In recent years to make a difference in the school operation structures, the government has launched Model Schools and Smart classroom, school bus etc. initiatives partnering with different private players. But the question lies whether it has been able to create the brand value or the perceived value of these schools among the general public which actually translates into YoY enrolment of new pupils minus the attrition. It is worrying to see school-goers of 6th standard unable to re-call the Multiplication tables and language alphabets properly in western regions of Odisha. Bunch of students when questioned on their future aspirations get confused as to which work they would likely prefer to continue in future times. Teachers did their work of teaching Textbook sessions and conducted the examination so the input and output are touched, but the outcome is always left to the student’s prerogative. Grooming interest areas through flexible course modules, and developing student-specific skills is currently considered a foreign affair and is to be viewed in social media reels and videos. Probably situations like this calls for making education need based and exciting as someone doesn’t do something until they understand why to do it and what will happen otherwise. Parents of humble background take much pain to spend extra penny & strive to send their children to private schools apprehending the peer learning pattern, competitive environment ,and hygienic atmosphere of government schools. Well currently, the Government department officials in charge of the transformation of schools and the educational system mostly rely on private schools for their children's education. By the way how many of you reading this are planning to send your children to government schools? Photo taken by Auther in Valiadal, Keonjhar, Odisha, IND (7th April, 2018)
