It is no surprise that there are a lack of mental health providers. However, there have been recent changes in legislation to allow for inter-state access to licensed providers Also, there is a growing list of online providers and resources. Unfortunately, this may not be enough to address our youth mental health crisis. Opportunities can exist through the following: - Accessible and affordable care through insurance partnerships requiring more providers that accept private insurance as well as state Medicaid. - Pediatric providers can meet youth where they are instead of on a couch or over zoom. Some providers have found great success safely conducting sessions while playing a game of catch, taking a walk, or while grooming a therapy pet. Let's be innovative! #mentalhealth #youthmentalhealthcrisis

Lack of social support is a significant social determinant of youth #mentalhealth, especially when it comes to anxiety and depression. Social isolation can heighten feelings of loneliness and stress, leading to worsening mental health. Without a supportive network, young people are more vulnerable to isolation and worsening symptoms. By building a supportive network through community programs, school activities, and peer support, we can help youth feel connected and understood.
