Another great clip from our podcast with Kristi Scott, where she talks about how GREAT email is at affording opportunities to brand new donors. When drafting your email: 1) Start with THANK YOU. 2) Welcome them into your organization and express HOW their donation will help you during your mission. 3) Highlight other opportunities for them to get involved! This could be becoming a recurring donor, or becoming a volunteer at one of your events. Something that allows these new passionate donors to take action while the iron is hot! Is insider jargon hurting your nonprofit? Clear messaging is key for nonprofits. But it's often complicated by industry-specific jargon that leaves your audience confused. Whether you're in science, healthcare, or social services, complex language can be a major barrier to your mission. Why does it matter? If people can’t quickly grasp your message, they’re less likely to: - Donate - Spread the word - Volunteer - Support your cause Instead, focus on making sure they know: - The problem you solve - The impact you create - The action you want them to take Clarity always wins. Aim for an eighth-grade reading level, and avoid terms that require explanation. Clear, accessible language opens doors to more support. I hope this helps! #Nonprofit #NonprofitLeadership #SocialImpact #ClearCommunication #FundraisingTips #VolunteerEngagement #DonorEngagement #NonprofitMarketing

Have you ever thought about how you phrase your nonprofit’s message might impact your connection with donors? Yes, how you talk about what you do can really make a difference for your nonprofit! Your words can seriously impact how well you retain your current donors and attract new ones! So, when you're reaching out—whether through social media, direct mail, or email blasts—try to focus more on the donors or prospective donors rather than the organization itself. I’ve heard many nonprofits talk about themselves in their appeal letters with a lot of “we, we, we…” But it's super important to shift to a “you” perspective. I know it might feel weird because it's your story, but believe me, it’s way more effective if you tell it in a way that resonates with donors. Here's some phrases to try: • You are a key part of our organization. • Your support is critical. • You make this possible. What you want to do here is to make them feel more involved and appreciated. How about giving this a try in your next message? I’d love to hear how it goes and see the impact it makes on your donor engagement. Want to make even more of an impact? Let's talk about how to get that done: https://lnkd.in/gkeaB6n9 #nonprofitmessaging #donors #donorretention #donorengagement #fundraising #nonprofits

When you want someone to do something—whether it’s donating, joining an event, or even buying Girl Scout cookies—it’s tempting to send out a mass email or general invitation. But here’s the truth: specific, personal asks are so much more effective. Here’s an example: For a recent volunteer picnic, we sent out a general invite to all our volunteers. Only about 20 people signed up. So, we tried something different. We sent individual emails, calling each person by name and personally inviting them to join us. The result? We doubled our registrations almost immediately. It’s not just about what you’re asking—it’s how you ask. A personal touch makes people feel valued and engaged. As we gear up for things like Giving Tuesday or other big events, I’m reminding myself (and all of you!) to think about how we’re inviting others to join us. A little effort in making it personal can go a long way! How have you seen the power of a direct ask in your work or personal life? Share your experiences in the comments—I’d love to hear them! #GivingTuesday #Philanthropy #NonProfit #Fundraising

Supporting local nonprofits isn’t just part of my job—it’s my passion. After 25+ years in this field, I’ve seen how these organizations transform lives and strengthen our communities. If you care about building a more compassionate world, here’s how you can help today: ❤️ Like and Follow: Start by connecting. Follow your community organizations on social media. This simple action helps them reach more people who need their services or want to support their work. 🔄 Share Their Posts with Your Why: Don’t just hit ‘share’—tell your friends and family why this organization matters to you. When we speak from the heart, we inspire others to get involved. 💬 Comment and Engage: Be part of the conversation. Comment on their posts, celebrate their wins, and show up for them online. Every comment helps amplify their message and shows them they’re not alone. 💵 Make a Donation: If you’re able, give what you can. I’ve witnessed the power of even the smallest donations—together, they add up to life-changing support for those who need it most. 🗣️ Tell Others About Your Donation: Your giving story has power. Sharing why you’ve chosen to donate can encourage others to think about what they can give, too. 🌐 Feature Their Donation Page on Your Website: Use any platform you have to spread the word. Adding their donation link to your website or blog can help draw new supporters. 📢 Lift Up Their Stories: Share their stories of impact and resilience. Let the world know why this cause is close to your heart and why their work is vital. I’ve dedicated my life to this work because I believe in the power of community. Our voices, our actions, and our support can create real, lasting change. Let’s rally behind our local nonprofits and continue building a community where everyone has the chance to thrive. 🌱 #SupportLocalNonprofits #CommunityDriven #25YearsStrong #WhyIGive #NonprofitAdvocate #ChangeStartsHere

Over the past year, I’ve attended countless conferences, and I’ve heard your stories. You’ve invested time and money into throwing fabulous events, only to see guests donating only a coupla bucks. 😩 But beyond the glitz, glamour, and decadent food lies a critical factor: attracting generous attendees. 💸 Here’s how to make your next fundraising event shine: 🔍 Clean up your database: Having a polished, organized database is the first step to reaching your guests. 📊 Uncover generous donors: Dive into your data to identify donors who are not only wealthy but have a track record of giving. Using data to identify the GENEROUS GUESTS is the secret sauce... 💌 Create a tailored guest list: Focus on supporters who are engaged, generous, and have the wealth capacity to contribute substantially. Remember, it’s not about the quantity of guests, but the quality of their generosity! 💖 By curating a guest list of the right attendees, you’ll raise more funds. 🎉🌟 Now, let’s get out there and knock gala season out of the park! 🏆💰 #EventPlanning #NonprofitGala #DonorEngagement #FundraisingStrategies #CharityEvents #GalaPlanning #NonprofitFundraising #Philanthropy #CommunitySupport #MakingADifference #FundraisingTips #GalaSeason #NonprofitSuccess Bloomerang DonorSearch
