♻️ 🌏 💚 #LimontaSportSustanability | Limonta Sport S.p.A. awarded ISCC Plus Certification What does “ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification PLUS converter” certification mean? The certification obtained by Limonta Sport confirms that we are able to process #renewable #raw #material to transform it into a different product, maintaining this quality of #environmental #sustainability. This certification therefore allows us to demonstrate the traceability and sustainability of materials at every level of the production chain (from raw material to finished product). FIFA itself has in fact included this certification in the new regulations, but to date it is not mandatory. Saudi Arabia's plans to build 11 new stadiums and refurbish four existing ones as part of its 2034 World Cup bid (for which it is the only bidder) have been unveiled. The stadiums look exciting and have a cutting edge design. But serious questions remain about whether or not Saudi Arabia should be allowed to host the event in light of the country's poor human rights record and the likelihood that the construction of the stadiums may involve forced or abused labour. Amnesty International's Stephen Cockburn has been heavily critical of the Saudi bid, arguing that the Cup could be blighted by 'forced labour, repression and discrimination' and that its response to human rights issues in its bid falls well short of the World Cup's standards. What do you think? Should Saudi Arabia be allowed to host the World Cup? #construction #engineering #architecture #worldcup #stadiums #worldcup2034 https://lnkd.in/gWufRy_u

#FIFA's World Cup 2034 is taking place in #SaudiArabia. The country's only bid is as good as confirmed despite the massive backlash towards FIFA, their host selection process, and the designated host. While recent news has either focused on the expected #design masterpieces (Designboom's link in the first comment) or the feared "corporate manslaughter" (The Guardian's link in the first comment), I want us to consider the #sustainability impact of the world biggest sporting event. Saudi Arabia will host the tournament in 15 new stadiums, of which only 4 already exist. 11 stadiums will be built or completed in less than 10 years. 4 stadiums have to be upgraded in less than 10 years. All 15 stadiums will wow most of the world for a few weeks before they slowly start falling apart year by year because of the lack of the reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover principle. #climateaction #corruption #humanrights Image: muflih alhababi from Pixabay.

Roshn seeks firms for Riyadh National Guard Stadium Saudi Arabian gigaproject developer Roshn has invited firms to prequalify for a contract to build a new stadium located adjacent to the National Guard facilities in the southwest of Riyadh. MEED understands that the notice was issued earlier this month with a deadline of 22 October. The planned facility, which is understood to be called the National Guard Stadium, will cover an area of over 450,000 square metres and have the capacity to accommodate 46,000 spectators. The scope of work also covers the construction of auxiliary facilities, including training academy offices, two hotels, and retail and food and beverage outlets. The stadium is scheduled to host 32 Fifa World Cup tournament games in 2034. In August, reported that Saudi Arabia plans to build 11 new stadiums as part of its bid to host the 2034 Fifa World Cup. Eight out of the 15 stadiums will be located in Riyadh, four in Jeddah and one each in Al-Khobar, Abha and Neom. The proposal outlines an additional 10 cities that will host training bases. These are Al-Baha, Jazan, Taif, Medina, Alula, Umluj, Tabuk, Hail, Al-Ahsa and Buraidah. The bid proposes 134 training sites across the kingdom, including 61 existing facilities and 73 new training venues. Saudi Arabia formally kicked off the World Cup participation process in October last year after it announced that it planned to bid to host the event. At the time, it was announced that the Saudi Arabian Football Federation would lead the World Cup bid. Later the same month, Saudi Arabia was effectively confirmed as the 2034 Fifa World Cup host after Australia, the only other bidder for the tournament, withdrew from the race. This was followed by Saudi Arabia’s official bid campaign reveal and the submission of its bid to Fifa. The official selection of Saudi Arabia as the 2034 host is expected to be confirmed on 11 December.#Roshn #NationalGuardStadium #RiyadhStadium #SaudiArabia #FIFAWorldCup2034 #SaudiVision2030 #Gigaprojects #SportsInfrastructure #WaheedHamdani #SaudiFootball #RiyadhDevelopment #MiddleEastConstruction #WorldCupPreparation #SaudiStadiums #SaudiSports #FootballStadium #InfrastructureProjects
