The comprehensive plan comprises 81 measures across 18 lines of work, to be implemented in two stages. The initial phase, spanning from 2023 to 2026, focuses on establishing conditions for industry development, defining environmental and social standards. Subsequently, from 2026 to 2030, efforts will concentrate on territorial planning, regulations, local development, citizen participation, and human capital preparation for green hydrogen advancement.

A recent analysis by the European Environmental Bureau reveals that Europe has sufficient land to expand solar and windenergy without compromising food production or nature. The study shows that only half of the land deemed suitable for renewable energy, excluding natural reserves and high-value agricultural areas, is needed to decarbonise EU by 2040. Key Findings: - Only 2.2% of the EU’s total land will be required for current and future solar and wind projects to allow the EU to reach climate neutrality by 2040. - 5.2% of EU land can be considered ‘suitable’ for solar and wind development, based on strict agricultural, environmental and technical criteria for hosting onshore wind and solar projects. - The majority of suitable land for sustainable renewable deployment is in rural areas. - There is plenty of degraded agricultural land available to expand solar energy without disrupting rural economies, in synergy with food production and soil health restoration. - Integrating solarpower with existing agricultural activities is possible through robust mitigation measures. - A European supergrid is essential to connect resources, balance energy distribution, and achieve EU-wide decarbonisation through cooperation and reduced waste. #elnät #DSO #gridoperator #infrastructure #infrastructuur #infrastruktur #netbeheerder #land #foodproduction #environment #deployment #Supergrid #windpower #windenergi #solarpower #solenergi #zonneenergie #climateneutrality #jordbruk #agriculture #landbouw #eu

In the race to net zero, #eDNA is key! A recent webinar saw us dive into the results of a project undertaken with Natural Power and EDF Renewables UK & Ireland to understand the reliability of eDNA in collecting data for Environmental Impact Assessments. The findings revealed that eDNA surveying can not only deliver more reliable data vs traditional methods, but it can deliver these insights more safely, more regularly and at a lower cost.
