🚢 Congrats to lomarlabs, the innovation arm of Lomar Shipping , one of Libra Group’s #maritime subsidiaries, which in partnership with maritime tech firm Seabound, has announced the successful results of the first tests at sea of Seabound’s proprietary #CarbonCapture system. Last year, in collaboration with Lomar and with support from Hapag-Lloyd AG, Columbia Shipmanagement, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Lloyd's Register, R2 Labs, and the UK Government, #lomarlabs and #Seabound successfully installed their inaugural carbon capture system on the Sounion Trader, a 3200 TEU container ship at Sefine Shipyard in Turkiye. The Seabound team joined the vessel's two-month journey to the Middle East, conducting hands-on carbon capture trials while gaining valuable operating experience at sea. 🌍 The best news - the prototype system effectively captured approximately 1 ton of CO₂ per day in the overall test, proving the feasibility and promise of this paradigm shifting technology that has the transformative potential to decarbonize the maritime industry, creating a more sustainable global future. This initial trial also provides the foundation that will support future full-scale installations. Seabound’s pioneering carbon capture technology achieved impressive results, capturing carbon with a stunning ~80% efficiency! 🌊 👏 Congratulations to lomarlabs and Lomar for their pivotal role in this trial. Connecting the German-Dutch ecosystem on the topics of #Battery, #Hydrogen, #CircularEconomy, #MedTech and #AdvancedManufacturing & #Robotics to promote innovation in the border region - that is one of the goals of the TECH.LAND initiative. And that was also the focus of an initial exchange with the Achterhoek region 8RHK. Cross-border cooperation between business, science and public institutions took centre stage in an exchange with Joris Bengevoord, Mayor of the municipality of Winterswijk and also Chairman of the Euregio, as well as ambassadors of the 8RHK thematafels from the Achterhook and several TECH.LAND cluster managers! After brief status reports on the progress of the work in the thematic clusters and a lively discussion, everyone agreed: ▶ Ecosystems for the individual topic areas exist on both sides of the border - they just need to be linked! ▶ We need ‘brokers’ who know and can support German and Dutch processes/projects and companies! ▶ Existing projects need to be publicised! ▶ The right people need to be brought together! ▶ Questions of small and medium-sized companies need to be answered! ▶ Relationships must be established and concrete projects must be organised as sustainably as possible! In true Dutch style, the circle is determined to ‘just start small’! We are looking forward to our fruitful cooperation in ‘TECH.LAND’! EARPA Project Spotlight, AWARE2ALL 💡 The project aims to pave the way towards the deployment of Highly-Automated Vehicles (HAVs) in traffic, by effectively addressing the changes in road safety and changes in the interaction of different road users. It put special focus on underrepresented populations to ensure that results provide safety to any (type of) occupant (through active and passive safety systems) and human road user (with internal and external Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) solutions).
