💧 Over the past 30 years, groundwater levels have been steadily declining in large parts of the world. This trend is deeply concerning, since groundwater serves as the foundation of our drinking water supply. It is a reservoir for soils, plants, animals and, crucially, for humans. Groundwater isn't just a source of drinking water; it's the lifeblood of our ecosystems, sustaining everything from plants to animals. That's why sustainable water management is non-negotiable. 💨 Compressed air systems play a vital role in tackling water challenges. From efficient sewage treatment to preserving drinking water, they're the silent force driving sustainability. By powering various water treatment processes like aeration and filtration, they ensure we maintain clean, safe water sources for generations to come. Find out more about the solutions KAESER is offering in the field of water management or visit us at the IFAT fair in Munich, the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies. 🟡 You'll find us in Hall A1, Stand 143/242. [#ReLieVe] Our 800 m² pilot plant for recycling electric vehicles (EV) batteries is now ISO 14001 certified. 🙌 Six months ago, the demo plant was inaugurated at our Research and Innovation center in Trappes. Since then, the Eramet Ideas teams have been successfully launching the first trials. Their goal? To test and optimize the extraction and refining process of the valuable metals contained in EV batteries on a pre-industrial scale. ♻️ The main environmental challenges of this project include the preservation of natural resources through sustainable water resource management, protection of aquatic and atmospheric environments, the promotion of the circular economy by recycling metals contained in lithium-ion #batteries, and managing the waste generated, and rigorous risk management associated with the use of chemicals. At the end of May 2024, Apave Certification confirmed that our pilot plant effectively manages all these environmental challenges it involves, underscoring our unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability in battery recycling. Project in partnership with Eramet and SUEZ and co-funded by Bpifrance and the Innovation Fund 🇪🇺 #InnoFund #Innovation #RecyclageBatteries #Certification Ville de Trappes EU Environment and Climate

NEW ARTICLE: Carbon circularity requires EU action: lessons from three EU projects Today, a joint article written by the CO2SMOS, CATCO2NVERS and VIVALDI H2020 projects has been published on the pan-European news website Euractiv! By exploring different solutions and business cases, the three projects aim to transform biorefineries into a new CO2-based industrial sector, contributing to largely decreasing the carbon footprint of the chemical industry and boosting the European Union economy. Working towards the same goal, the projects collaborate to exchange know-how and tackle common challenges. In a joint workshop held on the 20th of February, representatives from the projects presented to EU policymakers and biochemical industry stakeholders the challenges arising from the EU policy framework they have ascertained during the course of their research. The results of the discussion and the key policy recommendations to promote the uptake of alternative #carbonfeedstock in essential products in Europe can be found in the article at bit.ly/43CWm4r.

🌍 As we approach the pivotal fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) of the UNEP, the EUMEPS team is ready to bring vital issues to the forefront of the global environmental agenda. Lea Salihovic highlights our strategy of backing pragmatic policies and the scientific rigour needed to tackle plastic pollution effectively. With a focus on Environmental Producer Responsibility and the use of life cycle analysis data, we advocate for informed, application-specific approaches over broad polymer categorizations. 🔍 From 23 to 29 April, join Chresten Heide-Anderson, Lea Salihovic, and Jürgen Lang at the Shaw Center in Ottawa. Representing both EUMEPS and GESA, they are at the forefront of promoting Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) within this critical dialogue, demonstrating its sustainable benefits and aligning with our vision for a circular economy. 🌐 As Canada welcomes international delegates and stakeholders, our team is eager to build on the momentum from previous sessions. We're committed to showcasing how EPS stands as a cornerstone for sustainable practices within the packaging industry and beyond. 💪 Let's drive forward with solutions that aren't just sustainable, but also practical and effective. Keep an eye on our updates from INC-4 and engage with us as we help shape a sustainable future for plastics. #Sustainability #INC4 #PlasticPollution #EUMEPS #GESA #CircularEconomy
