We often wear masks because our needs have been dismissed when we ask for help. As a burnout coach, I've seen how this cycle perpetuates itself in organizations: "I need help" is met with judgment, so we stop asking Setting boundaries is seen as a weakness, so we overextend Rest is undervalued compared to productivity, so we burnout It's time to create workplaces where: Asking for help is encouraged and met with support Setting boundaries is recognized as a strength Rest is valued equally with productivity Vulnerability is welcomed as a path to growth

"Why can't they just read the policy?" I hear this frustration from highly logical, process-oriented individuals. It's a classic example of hyper-rationality at work. Hyper-rationality is the tendency to rely exclusively on logic and reason, often at the expense of emotional intelligence and empathy. Having a rational approach is crucial, however an overreliance can lead to: 1. Communication Breakdowns: Not everyone processes information the same way. What seems clear to you might be confusing to others. 2. Missed Emotional Cues: Focusing solely on facts can make you blind to the emotional needs of others. 3. Inflexibility: Strict adherence to rules without considering context can lead to poor decision-making. 4. Burnout: Constantly suppressing emotions in favor of logic can be mentally exhausting. 5. Interpersonal Conflicts: A purely rational approach can come across as cold or dismissive. Balancing rationality with emotional intelligence is key. Next time you find yourself thinking, "Why can't they just...?", pause and consider: • What might be preventing them from understanding or complying? • How can I communicate more effectively? • What emotional factors might be at play? Mental fitness involves both rational thinking AND emotional agility. It's not about abandoning logic, but enriching it with empathy and understanding. What are your thoughts? #MentalFitness #EmotionalIntelligence #WorkplaceCommunication #LeadershipSkills I'm here to help build more mentally fit workplaces. I partner to transform the challenges coming your way into opportunities for growth. Moving more has been shown to improve concentration, aid memory, speed up learning and lower stress. All these factors contribute to our ability to perform at our fullest potential at work. Moving more also positively impacts our mental health, and as CEO Magazine has reported, “People who have stronger mental resilience can persevere for longer. Stresses associated with a busy workplace are inevitable, but it is our ability to stick with something in the face of setbacks that is the true indication of success.” So please share my ‘Move More, Perform Better’ resource with your colleagues so everyone can be inspired with some simple, yet powerful ways to move more while dealing with the intensity of their workdays. Leaders, be the role model on this and watch the positive ripple effect it has on you and your team. What’s one way that you prioritise moving more at work? #humanresources #leadership #movemoremay

Anti-Execellence Hot Tip # 2,458: LET OTHERS FAIL. We can't undo our own tendency to over-achieve (and eventually burnout) if we are also constantly performing on behalf of others. This means sometimes we have to...let others fail. Want systems, teams, and plans to work more smoothly? Don't hold everything all the time. When people around you are allowed to fail, everyone can see more clearly the process, their part in it, and what needs to be changed. To avoid burnout, to find clarity, to incentivize growth: Let Others Fail. This will be uncomfortable for them. Uncomfortable for you. AND can cause deep inconvenience and sometimes disruption.

Overthinking: The silent productivity killer in your organization 🧠⚠️ As a psychiatrist specializing in workplace mental health, I've seen how overthinking can paralyze entire teams. Here's how to shift from mental gridlock to momentum: 1️⃣ Recognize the signs Watch for team-wide indecision, excessive 'what-if' scenarios, and mental fatigue. 2️⃣ Encourage mindful pauses Train leaders to ask, "Are we problem-solving or spinning our wheels?" 3️⃣ Clarify objectives Ensure every project has well-defined, achievable goals. 4️⃣ Promote incremental progress Celebrate small actions to break the overthinking cycle. 5️⃣ Cultivate 'progress over perfection' This reduces anxiety and boosts productivity. Remember: Effective thinking isn't about volume—it's about clarity and purpose. 💡 Leaders, which of these strategies resonates most with your team's challenges? Share your insights below 👇 . . . #WorkplaceMentalHealth #LeadershipTips #ProductivityHacks

𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫? Imposter Syndrome is something we all may come across at some point in our journeys. Despite clear achievements, that nagging feeling of “Am I really good enough?” can creep in, especially in high-pressure environments. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 A workplace with limited recognition or appreciation can unintentionally fuel imposter syndrome. When employees feel undervalued or their efforts go unnoticed, it can intensify feelings of inadequacy. At an organizational level, fostering an environment of clear appreciation and regular recognition is crucial. Leaders need to ensure that efforts are acknowledged, feedback is constructive, and there are opportunities for employees to grow. This helps to combat imposter syndrome and builds a more confident, motivated team. 𝐀𝐜𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐰𝐧 𝐈𝐭 Recognizing these feelings doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human. 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭 Replace negative thoughts with facts about your achievements to regain perspective. 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐬 No matter how small, celebrating your successes helps you appreciate how far you’ve come instead of always focusing on the next big goal. 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫 Having someone more experienced, who knows more than you, can be invaluable. A mentor can provide genuine, constructive feedback, offer a fresh perspective, and encourage you when self-doubt takes over. 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐈𝐭 Sharing these feelings with trusted peers or mentors can be a game-changer, creating a sense of connection and validation. Imposter Syndrome can feel isolating, but it’s more common than we realize. Overcoming it starts with being kinder to yourself, trusting the value you bring, and surrounding ourself with people who support our growth

When people have the opportunity to tap into their strengths, they’re more effective, less stressed and more focused on doing their best work. Rather than seeing their job as a burden, they’re more engaged. Employees with dominant Influencing themes – themes that help people take charge, speak up and make sure others are heard – often turn to coping strategies that allow them to make an impact on others or the future when they experience burnout. They are more likely than others to spend more time with their family or friends outside of work or think about how their work contributes to their future goals. Oftentimes, instinctual burnout coping strategies may not always be the best solution. Research shows that one of the best strategies for those strong in Influencing domain (Activator, Command, Communication, Competition, Maximizer, Self-Assurance, Significance, Woo) is to think about how they may have approached similar situations before. How are you coping with burnout using Influencing strengths? https://lnkd.in/gqzzThYa
