Through collaboration, exploration and research, Iowa State University is making a difference statewide by helping grow business, preparing the future workforce and fostering entrepreneurship. Here are a few examples of how Iowa State University Economic Development and Industry Relations and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach are bringing economic prosperity and innovation to all 99 Iowa counties. 📈 In 2022-23, ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship and local SBDC served 1,423 clients, which led to 63 new ventures, 362 jobs and $41.4 million in capital raised. 🔬 External support for Iowa State research has far-reaching benefits, including a $20 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to create the technologies and develop the workforce to build and grow advanced biomanufacturing capacity in the state. 💻 The Iowa State University Research Park is home to 131 companies and nearly 2,500 employees. Another 9,709 employees are located in communities across the state working for companies in the Research Park. 🌟 Big News! Oregon State University is 1 of only 8 universities awarded an NSF I-Corps™ Hub grant to lead the new Northwest Region Hub for innovation impact! 🏆𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲: https://lnkd.in/gZN6z4Ht As part of this $15 million NSF grant, OSU will receive $2.55 million to expand innovation and entrepreneurial training and lead the research component of the Hub. Most cited entrepreneurial ecosystems papers The year 2023 was once again a busy year for the scientific community around entrepreneurial ecosystems. Judging by the number of publications in scientific journals, it appears that entrepreneurial ecosystems as a subject has gained significant popularity in the last 5 years. Jeroen Content of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Observatory provides an analysis of the citation patterns since Daniel Isenberg’s landmark paper "How to Start an Entrepreneurial Revolution" in 2010. Very pleased that our 2022 Journal of Business Research article features in the list of topmost cited papers, published during 2015-23, on the topic of entrepreneurial ecosystems. This is out of nearly 1,300 papers that were considered for inclusion. The JBR paper is also among the top five most-cited papers of 2022, on this exciting topic. 🤝 Ten teams of academic entrepreneurs recently completed the ICURe Discover North East programme, a joint initiative from Opportunity North East Limited and the University of Aberdeen, in partnership with Innovate UK. 💡This programme took researchers on an eight-week journey, to equip them with invaluable market understanding and customer discovery skills. 🗨️ Jennifer Craw, CEO at Opportunity North East Limited, commended the participants: "The level of presentations was excellent, and showcased the potential and strength of the next generation of entrepreneurs in this region. “Our partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Innovate UK will continue to grow, providing further opportunities in the region and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem. ONE drives the message of innovation, supporting people to become the entrepreneurs of the future." 🗨️ Professor Bettina Platt, founder of a spin-out neuroscience company and programme participant said: “The ICURe Discover programme was an amazing opportunity and an engaging experience.
