The European Commission has approved the first certification schemes for renewable fuels, including hydrogen. This milestone allows producers to officially certify their hydrogen as "green" under EU standards. Green hydrogen plays an important role in Zeevonk, a joint project by Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. An integral and important component of the Zeevonk project is the development of up to 1GW of green hydrogen production, alongside the establishment of a 2GW offshore wind farm. Three certification schemes have been approved by the Commission: • REDcert-EU • ISCC EU • CertifHy This enables hydrogen producers worldwide to obtain EU-recognized certification, access funding, and contribute to EU renewable energy goals.
