International Day of Tolerance Today, on the International Day of Tolerance, the Women Alliance Against Poverty (WAAP) reaffirms its commitment to fostering understanding, compassion, and inclusivity in our communities. Tolerance is not just about accepting differences; it’s about embracing diversity and celebrating our shared humanity. In a world filled with challenges, let us remember that unity in diversity is our greatest strength. At WAAP, we strive to build a society where everyone, regardless of gender, background, or belief, has equal opportunities to thrive. Together, we can create a better world where respect and dignity prevail for all. Let’s practice tolerance every day – in our words, actions, and hearts. #InternationalDayOfTolerance #UnityInDiversity #WAAP

In case you missed it, we’re still commemorating the #16DaysOfActivism against Gender-Based Violence... Globally, 9 out of 10 people hold biases against women (UNDP, 2023) and harmful gender norms often start in classrooms. Early biases can limit opportunities for both girls and boys, perpetuating cycles of inequality, poverty and harmful cultural practices, including gender-based domestic violence. Through the European Union's Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA), we’re promoting gender-responsive pedagogy (GRP)—a teaching approach that challenges stereotypes and fosters equality. This #16Days, let’s continue to support educators to create classrooms where the next generation can challenge inequality—because #GenderEquality starts with all of us! #SDG4QualityEducationForAll #RegionalTeachersInitiative #RTIA, #InspiringFutures #EmpoweringTeachers #SupportingEducators #BrighterFutures #TeamEurope #GlobalGateway #PartnersOfChange Expertise France | Opetushallitus - Utbildningsstyrelsen - Finnish National Agency for Education | Enabel | APEFE | European Commission | VVOB | VVOB in South Africa

Reducing quotas in Bangladesh is a step towards addressing some of the grievances associated with the previous system. However, for Indigenous communities, this change must be accompanied by broader efforts to tackle the root causes of inequality. Maintaining an adequate quota for Indigenous peoples is crucial until systemic inequities are addressed and these communities have equal access to education, economic opportunities, and social services. Only through comprehensive, inclusive strategies can true equity be achieved, ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their background, have fair access to opportunities and the ability to thrive in a merit-based system. The recent developments underscore the complexity of balancing historical redress with the principles of meritocracy, highlighting the need for policies beyond quotas to address systemic inequities at their core.

Antiracism work has always been important work, so I will not use clichés like ‘Today’ or ‘Now more than ever.’ The fact remains that when you look around Europe, we are confronted with the mainstreaming of hate. Islamophobia, antisemitism, anti-Black racism, antigypsyism, anti-Asian hate, and anti-Latino hate are prevalent in ways that we could not have imagined 5 years ago. The gruesome murder of George Floyd was meant to be a watershed moment where, as a society, we collectively committed to combating hate and racism in all its forms and wherever it reared its ugly head. However, we are faced with the opposite. Those who preach hate now disguise their vitriol in anti-migrant discourse, liberal Islamophobia, and cultural preservation rhetoric. We cannot be deceived. Europe is a dangerous place for racialized and minoritised people. This is why we must engage our elected officials and civil society actors to ensure that Antiracism work is prioritized, funded, and supported. Our lives literally depend on this. The struggle is real, the battle is uphill, but we persevere because we must! Please, join our efforts. Disseminate this as widely as possible and engage your loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Together, let us rid society of racism! Can’t appreciate enough my colleagues Julie Pascoët and Nourhene M. who have been leading European Network Against Racism Aisbl (ENAR)’s efforts to reestablish the Antiracism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI) at the European Parliament.
Today, we are joined by Platform for Undocumented Migrants (PICUM), ILGA-Europe, Equinox: Racial Justice Initiative & 30+ organisations 📢 in urging MEPs and their political groups to ensure #ARDI continues its vital work advancing racial justice in the European Parliament. 📩 Read our joint statement: https://lnkd.in/eGmg5jBg European Roma Grassroots Organisations (ERGO) Network EAPN - European Anti Poverty Network Feminist Collective of Romani Gender Experts New Women Connectors #antiracism #racialjustice #EU

One thing disgustful in a democracy is a government that is not representative of all in the use of government resources. Favouritism treatments? Best to set up favouritism resources for favouritism roles always. The future looks the favouritism way but daily, we must push to be fair in unearthing and rewarding talents with opportunities, to ensure fairness in justice delivery and systems and to promote accountability even if our relatives. Decided not to speak much on the other side, but the current U.S president surely leads the way in the justice system for accountability even when related to family. Any reason not to respect such an act? NB: Favouritism Different from Affirmative actions and the lines must be justified clearly in line with equality always ! #Africa #ResponsibleLeadership #Accountability #Equality
