As we approach the end of the year and look ahead to the new one, it’s an ideal time for self-reflection, goal-setting, and focusing on overcoming the challenges we face. WomenLift Health’s research among mid-career women in the health sector shows that many women wait for others to recognize their potential and often undersell their achievements compared to their male counterparts. Imposter syndrome, often fueled by systemic barriers and exclusion, plays a key role in this. Do you ever question your abilities or feel undeserving of your position or power? Join us for our first #SouthernAfricaPowerUp in 2025, “Building Your Power and Battling Imposter Syndrome.” Let’s come together to share our experiences and find ways to overcome imposter syndrome as we enter the new year. There's nothing like immediate implementation of workshop lessons ... With her new found confidence in herself - and a little nudge from Karren Brady - the fabulous Vicki Hodges now has definite leads and pending conversations with national and global businesses - because she went to talk to their teams about the power of her work. THIS is the tangible power of having confidence in being able to open your mouth and talk about who you are and what you do .... Liberate Your Voice.. and if you have a mission that benefits others you don't just Liberate YOUR Life... you'll have the chance to liberate the lives of others too. #vocalconfidence #leadership #confidence
Endometriosis Workplace Consultant & Fertility Coach | Founder of Pausefully | Lived experience endometriosis education, advocacy, coaching & training
Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Karren Brady's Women in Business & Tech Expo at the Excel, where Karren Brady kicked off the day with an incredibly inspiring message including: "If you don’t take a risk, you risk it all." Her words resonated deeply with me as I reflected on my vision for Pausefully. Alongside drawing on my learning from Judith Quin-VocalConfidence workshop last week, I realised that my message is all about purpose. My mission is to help women with endometriosis achieve better health outcomes and lead a higher quality of life. As a disruptor in the endometriosis world, my goal is to change the conversation - addressing misinformation, minimisation, and dismissal of symptoms. Having faced my own health risks due to medical gaslighting, I am committed to closing the gender health gap. I challenge the status quo, educate and raise awareness, and work to dispel myths while removing the stigma surrounding endometriosis. So yesterday, I let go of imposter syndrome and fully embraced the importance of the work I do. With newfound confidence, I engaged with numerous companies to raise awareness of endometriosis on both national and international levels. Karren’s words empowered me to dream big for the women I aim to help. Watch this space!! #WomenInBusiness #EndometriosisAwareness #Advocacy #HealthEquity #GenderHealthGap #DisruptingTheNorm

„Oh, I thought PMS was just a different name for a period!” I heard a man say yesterday in a park and I flinched… In the realm of healthcare research, an unsettling truth persists: women's health issues, particularly those related to menstruation often find themselves on the sidelines, while conditions predominantly affecting men, take center stage. This discrepancy not only reflects an oversight but perpetuates a systemic neglect of women's well-being. Why? Women’s health issues have historically been overlooked, leading to a lack of funding and research. Women are underrepresented in clinical trials, hindering our understanding of how treatments affect them. The most significant issue is stigma around menstruation and societal attitudes towards women's pain which result in dismissive healthcare responses. We need increased funding and prioritization of research into women's health issues. Greater representation of women in clinical trials and leadership roles is essential for equitable healthcare. Let's challenge biases and amplify voices advocating for women's health. Just like Hanna Walker, a Personal Trainer at Eton Fitness. Understanding Imposter Syndrome and Societal Expectations: A Poll Analysis In our ongoing exploration of the impact of imposter syndrome on women, we recently conducted a poll to uncover the most significant barriers preventing women from embracing their true potential. The results are both enlightening and thought-provoking. Poll Results: Imposter Syndrome (fraud): 37% Societal Expectations: 58% Lack of Digital Skills: 5% Fear of Judgement: 0% 🌺 With 58% of respondents identifying societal expectations as the primary barrier, it’s clear that traditional roles and pressures continue to shape how women perceive their worth. This societal pressure often leads to feelings of self-doubt and inadequacy, reinforcing the notion that many women are not enough just as they are. 🌺 Interestingly, 37% of participants indicated imposter syndrome as a significant factor. This aligns with research suggesting that up to 75% of women report feeling like impostors in their professional lives, often stemming from the belief that they must meet certain expectations to be deemed successful. 🌺 While 5% noted a lack of digital skills as a barrier and 0% cited fear of judgment, it’s essential to recognize that these factors can also contribute to the broader narrative of self-doubt and inadequacy. 🪫Fostering Empowerment ⚡️ We can create a supportive community that encourages growth and empowerment by understanding these challenges. Women need to recognize their achievements and value themselves beyond societal expectations. 💁🏻♀️ As Rumi beautifully said, ‘YOU ARE NOT A DROP IN THE OCEAN. YOU ARE THE ENTIRE OCEAN IN A DROP.’ 🌊 This reminds us of our immense potential. 🌠 Your insights are invaluable and could inspire others to reflect on their journeys. Let’s continue this conversation and support one another in embracing our true potential! 💪✨ #ImposterSyndrome #WomenEmpowerment #SocietalExpectations #SelfWorth #WomenInBusiness #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportEachOther

It isn't enough to know that gaps exist or even to know the root cause of gaps, if solution approaches are not utilized. This analysis is from 1974 and is still accurate 50 years later... We can and need to do better. *Include women in research studies *Believe women when they report symptoms *Strengthen maternal healthcare *Provide postpartum support *Prevent and respond to violence against women and girls *Build a culture that values women's lives and contribution to society #progressnotperfection #leansixsigma #womenhealth #solutionsconsultant
