While global #WaterAction lags, communities are working tirelessly to address their local water challenges. Community members in the #TanaWatershed are working to restore the groundwater and streams by reversing land degradation, restoring the common lands through tree-planting, and other soil and water conservation efforts. In the last two years, they planted over 100,000 trees. "The main purpose is to recover the damaged lands by holding it with the tree roots," explained Yezina Alemneh, one of the committee members coordinating the community's effort. "The water shortage is becoming unbearable. We dig today for a better tomorrow." Read more in our latest article, written by Eliza L. The International Day of Action for Rivers is observed annually on March 14. It is dedicated to raising awareness about the significance of rivers, as well as advocating for the preservation and celebration. On a daily basis, two million tons of sewage, industrial, and agricultural waste are released into the Earth's waterways. These challenges jeopardize not only the health of our rivers but also the well being of millions of people who depend on them. By taking action to save our rivers, we are not only protecting the natural world but also ensuring our own well-being. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our rivers continue to flow freely, providing essential services for generations to come. #InternationalDayofActionforRivers #March14 #Waterforall #Harithkram #BeyondTheBoundaries

If water is the lifeblood of the planet, rivers, lakes and wetlands are the hard-working systems that keep it pumping. These systems feed communities, shape cultures and sustain the diversity of life on Earth. For too long, we’ve undervalued our freshwater ecosystems. But there is hope. Freshwater systems that are degraded can recover—and they can recover quickly. Fresh water is connected to everything TNC does. This #WorldWaterDay, like every single day we are committed to the protection, restoration and improved management of 2.5 million hectares of rivers, lakes and wetlands in Australia by 2030. Together we find a way. #freshwater #waterconservation #worldwaterday

I found an informative article from PSAI today that highlights the sanitation industry's initiatives to maintain environmental friendliness. At the recent international Summit in Toronto, I had the opportunity to learn about ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency through improved work habits. This is yet another reason to consider portable sanitation products.
💧 Portable Restrooms Save 125 Million Gallons of Fresh Water Every Day! 💧 Did you know that every time you use a portable restroom, you’re helping conserve one of Earth’s most precious resources? With 45 billion gallons saved annually, portable restrooms make a huge impact on water conservation! 🌎 👉 Learn more water facts: https://lnkd.in/e6sxujwR #WaterConservation #PortableSanitation

By 2070, the population of Texas is expected to nearly double, with the demand for water increasing by 17%. It is estimated that in the next 50 years four out of five Texans could potentially face a water shortage in their cities. This is why it is crucial that we stay diligent about conserving and protecting our most precious natural resource, water. As we commemorate this World Water Day, let us remember that water is a powerful resource. This year’s theme “Water for Peace” means that when water is scarce or polluted, or when people struggle for access, tensions can rise. Trees play a vital role in water conservation in several ways. Here are four crucial reasons why trees are essential for maintaining water resources: 1. Preventing Soil Erosion: Tree roots stabilize soil, reducing erosion and preventing sediment from polluting water sources. 2. Boosting Groundwater Recharge: Trees absorb and slow down rainfall, allowing water to seep into the ground and replenish groundwater supplies. 3. Regulating Water Flow: Trees help control water flow, preventing rapid runoff and reducing the risk of floods. 4. Improving Water Quality: Trees filter pollutants through their roots and canopy, improving the quality of nearby water sources. #TunzaTuishiTustawi #KickForWater #WaterConservation Centre For Social Planning And Administrative Development (CESPAD)

The #MurrayDarlingBasin is more than just a network of rivers; it's a lifeline for communities and ecosystems that spans 4 states and a territory. Through joint efforts to implement the Basin Plan, we are focused on restoring the rivers to heath. This means limiting extractions, returning water to our rivers and wetlands and upgrading infrastructure for water efficiency. The California Water Plan contains a massive wave of information, so DWR is summarizing the highlights for you in smaller “splashes”! 💦 Today, we’re going to highlight the core belief in our water plan that water resilience for California must include resilience for all. We can advance equitable water management by creating opportunities for meaningful outreach and engagement, building community capacity and resilience, and improving access to state resources.
