Best of Me: (You got it!)

Best of Me: (You got it!)

This is the first article I’ve written in a while, but I felt I needed to. I have a lot of other things to say, but the extreme nature of this situation needed to be addressed.

I had to take a break from what was a great weekend to address a previous client’s actions.  I was cooking breakfast for my family when a different client forwarded a communication from a person, we’ll call “Ms. Torres” about wanting to get in touch with my previous clients to inquire about my services, pricing, and payment schedule.

My services and prices are in my featured section, not to mention that when I met this person, I presented this information, per my standard process, with her own project details. In our project meeting she explained the urgency of her situation, and the need for a bulletproof solution. There was concern of passing a background check for things I cannot disclose. As a firm believer in change, and putting the best foot forward, I do feel we grow thru what we go thru. Because she had two pending interviews and needed to create certainty to secure an offer to keep the kiddos fed, we decided to provide our #1 solution option, for a maximum discount of 50%, pending CFO Approval. I do review P&L, and client Projects with the CFO, so I usually cannot take on any unpaid projects, because of my responsibilities to my family, and team.

As you’re familiar with my process, I usually can’t begin a project until it’s been deposited or paid for, to protect the investment that supports my own family. I expressed concern that my CFO, Who I review transactions with, would be alarmed at anything above a 50% discount, given her situation. She needed help rapidly, so we agreed on the psycho metric supplement, for it’s price, with a discount. I received a $25 deposit, but delivered everything, without a signed contract to meet the deadline.

She used her supplement, & gratefully received an offer from a company I spent years with.  John Deere is a great company, & I was very excited, as I love homeruns, that’s why we work so hard and be creative!  The fireworks stopped shortly after the conversation had matured bit. I was very pleased with the outcome, as that happens often, but the next part, rarely happens to me anymore. I did ask, for the second portion of my payment after a few months of regular pay into her account had been established, for the remaining $75. This ask, although clearly documented in our project paperwork somehow offended this person. I left the situation as it was. Happy to have a recommendation from this person’s awesome win, despite the concerns and issues she was having.

People's behavior has been about 20% more extreme since the pandemic started. Those of us that work in behavioral science know this and can see it clearly.  I’ve had SO MANY people try to, or successfully take advantage of me, I just walked on to the next opportunity. Once I received a forwarded message, I reached out to "Ms. Torres." I documented the entire conversation prior to, and after I had offended them with my request for the rest of the project payment.

She said she would be reaching out to many people. Please accept my sincerest apologies for this late statement, if you heard from a new Supply Chain Analyst that enjoyed some very compelling data to help secure an offer.

Sometimes I encounter resistance when sharing our company policies about not beginning work until it’s paid for, but in this one example, her data cost $75 if ordered directly. We provided that, and the supplement that helped her secure 2 offers out of 2 interviews. It was very surprising that this person didn’t count their awesome wins and skip on down the sidewalk in the spring. Instead, she is messaging my previous clients who wrote me recommendations and creating new profiles to view my profile after she was blocked. After all of this happened, I reviewed my documentation and sent an invoice for the remaining balance.

Here is one example of the challenges in running a small business that helps people, despite their situations and backgrounds. This one unexplainable situation to me, hurt me to my heart. I wasn’t kidding a year ago when I mentioned there was no shelter for those that look inside a person’s mind for the truth, as ignorance is never our bliss. We are happy to help in ways other providers could only imagine, but it does come at a cost, of course. BB King called this paying the cost to be the boss. For us, it translates into transformative power we provide, with the certified psycho metric systems and processes we use for precise advice in human advancement.

If this person reached out to you, please accept my sincerest apologies! I can’t explain this, which is hard for me if you know me, as I don’t like guessing. Professionalism being a thing, I was proud of the informers response to “Ms. Torres,” as it clearly stated that this was not their business, and they prefer to not talk about their own personal project.   Screenshotting it and sending it to me was the right thing to do, even if it hurt me.

Thank your time and support of our small business. I’m usually very blessed to merely be a witness to stunning growth and changes our process enables and evokes, but please trust me when I say that this embarrassment and experience, isn’t something I hope to ever repeat!!

All the Best to you!

Thanks,

Scott

Great article! You are so right that peoples actions are 20% more extreme post pandemic. Everyone is being motivated and away never seen before. It’s unfortunate that this happened to you and your business when you were trying to help them achieve their goals. (which they did…)
