The Connacht Monthly - January

It’s time for another LinkedIn Recap, where we run through some of the fantastic highlights from the first month of 2024. As always, it has been a whirlwind few weeks with lots to celebrate and enjoy. So, join us as we look back on the month that was January!

The Connacht Hospitality Group announced in January that Group Operations Director Wayne Neilon and Group Finance Director Brian Lynch have both joined the Group's Board of Directors. Speaking about the two appointments, CEO Peter Fitzgerald said: “I am delighted to welcome both Wayne and Brian to the Board, and they have played a pivotal role in the growth of the Group in the last number of years. They both bring a wealth of experience and strong leadership skills and will be instrumental in guiding the Connacht Hospitality Group to new heights.”

We continued our Connacht Hospitality Group Employee Stories series with two new features to kick off 2024. HYDE Duty Manager Conor Kennedy featured with his story – he has progressed a lot during his career so far, and it was fascinating to hear all about his hospitality insights. Plus, we also spoke with Galway Bay Golf Resort’s Course Superintendent Damien Coleman who chatted about his journey to date, including how he has introduced eco-friendly solutions to the amazing headland course out in Renville.

The Galway International Rally 2024 launch pulled into The Connacht Hotel during January as we get ready to be the headquarters for another year. We took a few snaps of the cars as lots of people turned up to the Rally's HQ. It's all speeding into action on February 3rd and 4th, and we're really looking forward to it. We wonder who will emerge victorious this year? It’s going to be a phenomenal event, as always!

We were full of New Year’s inspiration in 2024 as we published a number of blogs for your reading pleasure. We expounded on the benefits of Active 24 Fitness & Leisure in this read, including how amazing one of our incredible personal trainers can be to boost your fitness journey. We also looked at some other wonderful ways to start 2024 and added a few more reason to the list of why foodie experiences are not be missed this year.

We launched some really cool new events at 1520 Bar on Quay Street this month. Our Board Game Wednesdays mean that fun is definitely on the cards every week as we’ll have Jenga, Guess Who, and lots of other great games. Meanwhile, at An Púcán, there’s even more fun with Music Bingo - while Split the G will be taking place each Wednesday, too. HYDE Bar also has lots of fun planned with Silent Discos and Disco Brunches taking place every few weeks as we look to keep the good times rolling through 2024. As always, huge credit to all the teams across our properties for everything they do to ensure so many varied events take place.

Galway Bay Golf Resort continued its sustainability push as it took on six new fully electric golf carts this month. The team at this wonderful Christy O’ Connor Jr-designed course take their green approach very seriously, and this is the latest step along the journey. It now means that six petrol-powered carts can now be removed from the fleet!

And the team at Galway Hooker are busy-busy with another month of production. They are currently brewing something super exciting, but more to be revealed on that at a later date…
