The Hamas attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023 have triggered hostilities in the Gaza Strip for five months. Israeli armed forces have responded with heavy bombardment and military ground operations in Gaza, killing over 30,500 people and injuring around 71,900 as at 4 March 2024. Humanitarian access is critical to allow aid delivery. This report consolidates all available information on access into and within the Gaza Strip.


Egypt: potential impacts of conflict in Gaza and Red Sea tensions

The latest political, economic, and conflict developments in the Middle East and North Africa region are likely to further deepen Egypt’s financial crisis. Concerns around security and the potential displacement of Gazan refugees to the Sinai Peninsula are likely to drive humanitarian needs.


Sudan: displacement in the East

The fighting that broke out on 15 April 2023 has displaced over 6 million individuals to more than 6,700 locations across Sudan’s 18 states. Over 3.5 million IDPs originated from Khartoum state. We analyse the crisis impact in eastern Sudan, including Gedaref, Kassala and Red Sea states.


Guatemala: anticipated impact of drought

As at December 2023, El Niño-related drought had already affected 15 of Guatemala’s 22 provinces. Drought and high temperatures are projected to continue through May 2024. Effects may be particularly severe in the Dry Corridor.
