It’s been a minute!

It’s been a minute!

With everything going on in the world, I’ve taken a step back from my constant content consumption. In an attempt at self-preservation, I have blocked out a lot of current affairs, and on the side been grappling with a bit of imposter syndrome…

But last night I went to an amazing dinner hosted by the Girls in Tech Australia team, and I was reminded just how much I love sharing ideas with smart people. Whether it’s podcasts, books that have been read, or talking through the blunt realities of being a woman at work, there’s so much to gain from connection and conversation.

So I’m back, and it’s not tech or AI-focused today (apart from one), but instead.. a couple of things I’ve been exploring to build resilience, along with some recommendations shared over dinner.

  • How to Fail with Elizabeth Day - Day is so well known, this probably isn't new for anyone (I may even have shared it in a previous edition, but it's a great reminder that failure should be celebrated)
  • Another Elizabeth Day podcast (she is brilliant) - Best Friend Therapy - I have loved so many of these which cover everything from personal relationships to menopause - but last year's episodes on Imposter Syndrome and this week's on Burnout were highlights for me.
  • The Imperfects - which was recommended by Susan B. over spring rolls last night. Yet to listen, but sounds right up my alley.
  • And Amy Edmunston's new book, The Right Kinda Wrong was recommended by the formidable Catherine Ballantyne . I cannot wait to read this.

And because I promised I would, my AI recommendation of the week is from Stories of Our Times - Why MI5 is so worried about AI and then next election - I thought this was fascinating.

And to sign off, did you know that if you have a Spotify Premium account, you can listen to 15 hours of audiobooks a month? I plan on listening to Britney's new book to start (as I've been thinking a lot about the 00s and the treatment of women lately and the impact that has had on my generation), but if you have any great audiobook recommendations I'd love to hear them!
