Looking beyond the day

Looking beyond the day

I've been in the logistics real estate sector for over 25 years now, I've experienced times when logistics were exotic and 10% was considered the usual purchase price. I experienced the development up to the financial crisis in 2008 as well as the time after that and the boom in recent years.

At an early stage, I propagated locations that were then classified as crazy by contemporary experts – and are now considered hotspots, such as Leipzig, Erfurt, but also Wilhelmshaven and, last but not least, Berlin and countries like Poland.

During my time at Aareal Bank AG , we measured Europe and dealt with consumer agglomerations: this revealed that Europe's technical distribution center is in the region around Leipzig.

I spoke about City Logistik back in 2010 and was smiled at again.

Today I'm talking about #WarehouseAsAPowerbank, #qCommerce, #DeCoupling, the higher importance of trains in transport and about regions like #Roumania and #SouthAmericas - see the potential in #verticalization and #automation - and even today I'm smiled at about it.

And tomorrow I'll be talking about #VirtualPlatforms, #PullSystems, #DataAnalytics and #CityTowers and I'll be smiled at again ... He who laughs last laughs best.
