Numbers Lie - Here’s What You Should Count
Hello Creators,
Let’s be honest: Social media metrics can be deceiving. A post might hit 10,000 likes, but did it resonate? Did it spark a meaningful connection? Did it reflect you?
Here’s a truth most creators won’t admit: The real wins can’t always be measured in numbers.
Success is about more than going viral. It’s about creating content that:
• Builds genuine relationships.
• Aligns with your values.
• Inspires action and thought.
• Brings joy to you and your audience.
Case in Point: Meet Aditi Surana
Aditi Surana is a high productivity coach who spent months optimising for engagement on her short videos, carousels and static posts for years on LinkedIn.
Despite her slowly growing numbers, she wasn’t getting brand deals or meaningful engagement in terms of comments when she started working with us in March 2024.
Frustrated, she decided to try something new in line with Creator Chart’s guidelines: creating content that detailed her audience's biggest pain points in a relatable manner.
The numbers? Eventually jumped to 10x over 3 months.. The impact? Huge. Not only did she receive heartfelt DMs, but she also attracted a partnership with LinkedIn India- sharing one of her biggest productivity tool. Watch here .
Here’s the hack she swears by: Track impact metrics instead of vanity metrics.
For Aditi, this meant:
How to Measure Success Differently
1. Are You Sparking Real Conversations?
Hack: Experiment with Call-to-Thought questions instead of generic CTAs. For example, “What’s one thing you’ve done to live more sustainably this week?”
Recommended by LinkedIn
2. Does Your Content Reflect Your Authentic Self?
Hack: Use the 3:1 rule - every three posts optimized for growth, share one deeply personal story or post just for you.
3. Are You Making an Impact?
Hack: Track qualitative metrics like the type of comments you receive or partnerships that come from specific posts. Tools like Notion or Airtable can help organise this.
4. Is Creating Still Fun?
Hack: Schedule a weekly “passion post.” It’s a post you create purely because it excites you - algorithm be damned.
Over the Next 6 Weeks, we’re diving deep into strategies to help you uncover opportunities in redefining success. You’ll learn to thrive in the stories, relationships, and values you create for your audience.
This Week’s Challenge:
Post something raw and authentic—the story you’ve been too afraid to share or the thought that makes you feel vulnerable. Forget the numbers. Focus on the connection.
Bonus Hack: Use a 3-part storytelling structure like:
1. The hook (your why or the challenge)
2. The journey (how you approached it)
3. The lesson (what your audience can take away)
Share your reflections or learnings with me in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
