Secret is NOT the soul of business!
Secret was the soul of business during the last century.
In fact, corporations that gathered and treated information and acquired certain skills had a valuable asset. They kept this asset for themselves and made profit out of it. Back then, info was not available to everyone. Info didn’t flow. Traveling was costly and painful and hiring foreign experts was almost prohibitive. “Global” was a concept hardy applied to most products and services (European market was different from URSS or China markets, just to give some examples). So, secrets could be kept for a long time. Business could wait years to kickoff and still succeed.
Today every company has access to everything, everywhere: info, data, expertise,... There are thousands of companies claiming they are the best in what they do. And everything is fast. What is “rocket science” today is obsolete tomorrow.
So what makes companies different from each other?
💡 - Knowledge!
Today, Knowledge is the soul of business. Companies that show and prove they have the knowledge are the ones that are hired. Showing knowledge is having a competitive advantage. Not hiding it. Claiming to have knowledge is not enough. One has to show he has it. This is the new way to succeed.
And if knowledge is the soul of business, sharing it is the heart.
Sharing knowledge is not for everyone. Sharing is altruistic. Sharing is giving. And few companies understand the benefits of giving. So think about this: the Return on Knowledge (RoK) is proportional to showing and sharing it - it brings business!
