What Motivates You?
It is emotional or mental or both? Only you will know that. We are motivated either by our passion or emotions. It is something that drives us to get the things we want or feel we need. We all have our own form of motivation. It’s our “motivation” that propels us to plow forward. It was my “motivation” to share my thoughts and concepts and put them into a book so that people who seek some guidance, there is a resource that can provide alternative solutions to help them achieve greatness.
As I was mentioning before regarding our Attitude, Structure, and Passion. It is with these 3 areas that empower us to achieve our goals that we set upon ourselves.
Change, Grow and Become
I was listening to an amazing speaker by the name of Jim Rohm. He was talking about personal growth. I quite liked what he said, "Welcome all experiences, you never know which one will turn everything on."
But from listening what Jim was saying, priorities needed to be established. Goals play an important role. For those reading this book, I encourage you to set goals, because when you complete a goal, it’s very rewarding. This book is an example of goal setting. What I like about change, grow and become if for the following reasons. With the "Change", it will vary from person to person. The experience could be good or bad. One can choose to "Grow" from it or not. From the growth, you become something more as a result of it.
What I have learned from these growth moments, I was becoming more of my true self. You only need yourself and that is enough. But that is how life teaches us lessons. But like my mentor shared with me. “People come into our lives, sometimes for a reason or for a season or both. Reason: To show that I need to work on me. Season: Was in my life for a not long. Long enough to express their emotions. Things happen for a reason. I have learned more about myself, and I am thankful for them being in my life.
I am reaching my goals to position me to be more reliable and self-sufficient. This experience has made that very apparent I have had still unresolved matters. This hurt was enough for me to get up and take action against my fears. I challenge you to face yours. When you overcome them, they no long have a hold on you.
“Great moments are made from great opportunities”
I can’t recall where I heard this quote, I was moved by what it was being said. In our lives we are filled will many moments. Some are wonderful and then there are those we would sure like to forget.
I am reminded of the song George Strait “The Breath You Take”. This was very touching.

“You just might miss the point,
If you don't slow down the pace.
Life's not the breaths you take.
But the moments that take your breath away”
These lyrics are very true. It is the moments that take your breath away. We spend too much time rush, rush, and go, go. Our time here is only for so long. The sum of our lives is comprised of the moments we have. When I was in Nova Scotia, I was witness to a way of life there that was very different from what I had come to know in Calgary.
It was like another time and place. It was like time had stopped. The pace of people there was the opposite of what we have in Calgary. During my stay there was filled with many moments. What are your moments? Life is meant to be enjoyed and what I saw while on my trip to Nova Scotia. They were living life. Talk about moments. Last night I was with an amazing group of people.
We get together on the first Friday of the month. The person from the last dinner who wins the game of the evening gets to choose the next place to dine at. Our moments are personal and sometimes not so much. But in the end, they are our own. Moments are a part of how we grow or shrink. Like a plant, it grows from what it is exposed to.
Moments in our lives are captured in photographs and shared memories. Opportunities are present when a moment arises.
Bruce Lee said, “You have to create your own luck. You have to be aware of the opportunities around you and take advantage of them.”
Opportunities are moments and together create our realities to some extent. Life gives us to participate in other people and their moments. I have found from writing this and other postings. Several moments that are filled with learning, growing and becoming a better person.
