This week the pilot for the Training Manual for Quality Control Laboratory Analysts is taking place, hosted by the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA).This program will provide hands-on training in laboratory testing, quality control, and analytical methods, empowering participants with the knowledge and tools needed to strengthen regulatory oversight of medicines across Africa. The pilot marks a significant step in building the capacity of African National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicinal products while enhancing Africa’s regulatory framework.

News from Abu Dhabi! AUDA NEPAD and Mercy Ships International have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding at the 2024 World Policy Conference to transform surgical care across Africa. This partnership addresses critical gaps in access to safe, timely, and affordable surgical services for underserved populations. Key areas of focus include: ✅ Supporting health policies to strengthen healthcare systems. ✅ Training healthcare workers for sustainable surgical care delivery. ✅ Mobilizing resources to improve surgical infrastructure. ✅ Raising awareness and advocating for prioritizing surgical care. Our CEO, Mrs. Nardos Bekele-Thomas, said: “This partnership combines our expertise to deliver transformative healthcare solutions for millions across Africa.” Dr. Juliette Tuakli, Africa Ambassador for Mercy Ships, added: “Together, we can bridge the gap in surgical care and bring hope to the most vulnerable.” This partnership aligns with Agenda 2063 and SDG 3, driving progress toward Universal Health Coverage. #Agenda2063

He emphasized the impact of the program, a joint collaboration between the Government of Senegal and AUDA NEPAD to advance health and skills development, highlighting its potential to drive economic growth through the local production of medicines in Senegal. Symerre Grey-Johnson, AUDA-NEPAD Director of Human Capital and Institutional Development, noted that, as a founding member of NEPAD, Senegal has been at the forefront of driving and promoting NEPAD programs.
