PGL is proud to have been part of the winning team for Best Overall Project at the 2024 Brownie Awards, which recognizes excellence in remediation and redevelopment of brownfield sites across Canada. PGL’s team, lead by Senior Consultant Katie Scott has been supporting Montrose Properties/Ecowaste Industries Ltd. since 2009 in the development of the Richmond Industrial Centre - a business park to be located on the site of a 130 hectare landfill of inert demolition construction and land-clearing waste in Richmond, BC. Apart from the significant precedents this project has established on the regulation side, it also exemplifies innovative approaches to sustainable remediation and massive infrastructure investment. A rigorous process of investigation, remediation, risk assessment, and in-situ risk management have enabled closed portions of the landfill to be transformed into the Richmond Industrial Centre while portions of the landfill are continuing to accept waste. We have successfully achieved regulatory closure on five areas, and four buildings are now complete and occupied by high-profile tenants. At project build out, the brownfield site will be converted into 12 industrial warehouse buildings totaling three million sq. ft. Congrats to the all-star team on this well-deserved recognition! #PGLEnvironmental #NerdyByNature #Remediation #landfill #riskassessment

Ending the work-week with another Show and Tell field snap! Check out this beautiful find during a recent vegetation survey. PGL biologist Elisa Achiluzzi stumbled upon vibrant green stain fungi (Chlorociboria aeruginosa), adding a splash of color to her day in the field. Nature never ceases to surprise us! Have you ever found something surprising in an unexpected place? Share your stories and thoughts with us! #showandtellfieldfinds #pglenvironmental #environmentalconsulting #fungi #nerdybynature
