🚀 The 4th edition Brain Innovation Days 2024 is officially live! The event launched with a powerful introduction from our Master of Ceremony, Lisa Burke, alongside Felix Strobl and Suzanne L Dickson, President of the European Brain Council, bringing to life the connection between emotions and the brain. Baroness Susan Greenfield took the stage for the opening Brain Talk, challenging us to rethink digital impacts on young minds, explore consciousness and intensify research on Alzheimer’s disease. After a powerful address from Irene Norstedt (EU Science, Research and Innovation), Ágota Dávid (Permanent Representation of Hungary to the EU), Leszek Kaczmarek (European Research Council (ERC)), Kasia Jurczak (DG RTD) and Frédéric Destrebecq discussed strategies for driving brain innovation across Europe. From there, innovators took the stage to pitch their contribution to brain innovation in 30 seconds, concretely showcasing transformative ideas to advance brain health. A powerful fireside chat with Richard Lui highlighted the value of the EU’s 100 million family caregivers who support loved ones living with Alzheimer’s and other conditions, underscoring the need to tap into this often invisible workforce. Shiva Dustdar (European Investment Bank (EIB)), Niklas Blomberg (Innovative Health Initiative (IHI)), Magda Chlebus (EFPIA - European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations), Pavel Balabanov (European Medicines Agency), Ulrike Busshoff (Coordination & Support Action BrainHealth) then shared the latest advances and challenges in brain health innovation, emphasizing the importance of integrating brain health into policies and economic systems. Martien Kas (European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP)) stressed the need for a new diagnostic framework that leverages neurobiology to enhance precision in neuropsychiatric treatment, before Christelle Baunez (CNRS) discussed the social context of addiction and the impact of peers on brain function. #BIDs2024
