Thank you, ShaQ Express, for highlighting the impact and possibilities of using electric mobility in last-mile delivery. At Kofa, we’re committed to building the energy infrastructure that enables businesses to thrive sustainably. By expanding our battery swap stations we’re making it simpler and more reliable for businesses like ShaQ Express to adopt electric vehicles (EVs). Anthony Owusu-Ansah is right, for many interested in the sector, challenges still exist, such as the upfront costs of EVs. That is why we advocate for more support across sectors to make EVs accessible, from local initiatives to government incentives. Together, we can accelerate Ghana’s transition to a cleaner, tech-driven logistics network that benefits everyone. ShaQ Express, let’s keep pushing boundaries. With collaboration, a sustainable future is within reach. #WeAreKofa #TogetherWeAreElectric #CleanMobility #SustainableLogistics

People often ask, “What’s the real impact of using EVs in delivery, is it worth it?” Honestly, it’s been a journey, with upsides and a few hurdles. Switching to Kofa electric motorcycles has definitely been a win for ShaQ Express in cutting emissions and saving on fuel, but it’s not without its challenges. One thing people don’t talk about enough is the infrastructure gap. Reliable charging stations are still catching up, and that’s a big factor in scaling EVs. Thanks to Kofa, which has over 10 battery swap and charging stations in Accra alone, and plans to add more, we’ve seen a big boost in our delivery operations. KOFA’s commitment to expanding charging infrastructure is a massive plus for businesses like ours, making it easier to rely on EVs for reliable, last-mile deliveries. While EVs save on fuel, the upfront investment is still a bit high for most small businesses. That’s where government incentives could make a real difference. Imagine tax breaks or subsidies for companies adopting EVs, which would not only accelerate sustainable business models but also contribute to cleaner cities. Supporting local EV initiatives and infrastructure is critical to making these gains accessible and practical for everyone. KOFA’s efforts are showing us what’s possible. With better infrastructure and the right incentives, Ghana could lead the way in sustainable, tech-driven logistics.

Who are the top Energy startups to watch? 👀 World Fund's Craig Douglas recently spoke to ClimateHack to share which startups have caught our attention across the energy sector. Here are our choices: enerkii specializes in installing and operating smart energy solutions for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, handling everything from initial planning to full system implementation. The team's deep understanding of complex energy markets, coupled with their innovative business model, positions them for rapid scalability in the C&I sector. SunRoof a leader in designing, producing, and installing solar-integrated roofs for both residential and commercial customers. We selected SunRoof because of its innovative system that seamlessly combines smart energy production with sleek, aesthetically appealing design, driving higher adoption rates. Kofa, based in Ghana, focuses on sustainable energy solutions, particularly through the development of a comprehensive battery swap network. They're revolutionizing African transport with affordable electric alternatives to gas-guzzling cars. This innovative approach promises widespread, sustainable mobility across the continent. Granular Energy offers software for managing and trading clean energy, addressing a critical issue in the renewable energy market. Granular impressed us from its inception, with a strong team and the ability to execute in a traditionally slow-moving sector while working collaboratively with established industry players. Sensorfact, Eliminating Industrial Energy Waste develops solutions that allow manufacturers to track energy consumption and gain insights into machine maintenance. We selected Sensorfact due to their standout plug-and-play solution, which is easy to adopt, avoids lengthy integration timelines, and unlocks substantial energy-saving potential From climate risk modeling and renewable energy tracking and trading, to stellarator fusion power plants and battery reuse and recycling, discover the full list of up-and-coming Energy startups to know 👇 https://lnkd.in/etPNkvUW Thanks Laura Hodgkiss and team for the opportunity!

💡 Key Takeaways from Today’s Sustainability Week Africa Session with #GGA Chair, Iain Banner - Connecting Africa for Sustainability 💡 Today, Iain Banner (Co-Founder and Chair of Go Green Africa), joined a dynamic panel featuring Rajesh Gupta (Chief Executive, Mahindra South Africa), Jesse Forrester (Founder & CEO, Mazi Mobility), Erik Nygard (CEO, Kofa), Craig Atkinson (Founder, Green Riders), and moderated by Ore Ogunbiyi (Africa correspondent, The Economist) at The Economist’s Sustainability Week Africa. Together, they shared insights on transforming transport connectivity across #Africa for a sustainable future. As noted by the Economist Impact Events team, Africa boasts an extensive transport network, yet infrastructure quality and efficiency vary greatly, impacting trade, employment, and economic growth. In many regions, poor infrastructure hinders development. The panel explored key questions: What affordable technologies and innovations can help connect Africa? and How can collaboration among countries and companies drive connectivity and sustainability across the continent? The discussion highlighted the work of various companies and organisations leading this charge. From international automobile manufacturers to providers of battery-swapping infrastructure enabling e-mobility, and even Formula E racing on African soil, the panel enthusiastically discussed the challenges and opportunities to enhance transport connectivity on the continent. Session Highlights: - Panellists emphasised the need for adaptive solutions tailored to each country’s socio-economic and political landscape, reminding attendees that solutions must reflect local realities—what works in Kenya might not suit South Africa, and vice versa. - Topics ranged from government EV subsidies to the impacts of grid instability on EV viability. Jesse from Mazi Mobility noted that while grid instability remains a challenge, blended renewable/grid models are proving successful. - Iain highlighted Eskom’s 2023 microgrid deployment in Swartkopdam, where microgrids have provided a more affordable and lower-emission solution than traditional grid infrastructure. - Looking ahead, Iain spoke about Africa’s potential to lead with innovative off-grid solutions, with the continent poised to learn from global grid challenges and leapfrog ahead. As Iain noted, “The Formula E Cape Town race was terrific, but as the host, we knew purpose had to be central to our strategy.” He also discussed Go Green Africa’s role in driving global capital to African green economy initiatives through the Africa's Green Economy Summit, empowering change across the continent. 👉 Email us at hello@gogreenafrica.com to find out how to partner with us and be part of the change. #GoGreenAfrica #GGA #Sustainability #GreenEconomy #EconSustainability #EconomistEvents #EconomistImpact Economist Impact events #TransportConnectivity #eMobility #EV
