Peace, People and Planet ☮️🫂🌎 | Climate Advocate | Mission-driven to Reduce Fashion's Carbon Footprint

Fashion Industry can be a zero waste industry. Today I visited one of the recycling factories in Panipat, Haryana where we learned how the process of recycling works. How that a zipper & button can be recycled also. This process uses every single component of your cloth & don't let it waste. Factory - Respun website - www.respundindia.com Owner - Gagan Kansal Thanks to Gagan Kansal ji for allowing us to visit your facility & help us gain valuable insight into the recycling process. #recycling #sustainablefashion #fastfashion

🌎👗 World Upcycling Day: Transforming Fashion for a Sustainable Future! 🌱♻️ Ever wondered what happens to that old Clothing you tossed away? we’re turning yesterday's trash into tomorrow’s treasure! ✨ Check out this stunning transformation: a discarded garment reborn as a vintage fashion piece. It’s more than just a makeover – it’s a revolution. By upcycling, we’re not only reducing waste but also creating jobs, raising awareness, and making the planet a bit greener. 👗 The global fashion industry is responsible for 10% of annual carbon emissions – more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. 🌿  Global Alliance For Textiles Sustainability Council (GATS), an industry-led alliance, is championing sustainability in the Indian Textiles and Apparel industry. Their mission? To create a more sustainable, circular, traceable, and responsible textile ecosystem while maintaining global competitiveness. 🌏👔 🌟 Why Upcycling Matters: Environmental Impact: Upcycling reduces waste, conserves resources, and minimizes the carbon footprint. By giving new life to old textiles, we contribute to a healthier planet. 🌎🌿 Social Empowerment: Waste Collection, Sorting & Upcycling creates jobs and supports local artisans. It’s not just about fashion; it’s about livelihoods! 👩🌾👨🎨 Consumer Awareness: When you wear upcycled fashion, you’re making a statement. You’re saying, “I care about our Earth!” 🌟👗 🌈 Our Vintage Transformation Story: Imagine a worn-out denim jacket—faded, torn, and destined for the landfill. But wait! With creativity and craftsmanship, it becomes a chic patchwork masterpiece. The frayed edges tell stories of adventure, and the embroidered patches add character. Now, it’s a one-of-a-kind vintage gem! 🌟👖 📊 Global Impact Data: 1 billion: The estimated number of garments produced annually worldwide. 85%: The percentage of textiles that end up in landfills each year. 🌱 Upcycling a single garment can save up to 3,000 liters of water. Upcycling Potential: Imagine if we upcycled just 10% of those discarded textiles—what a difference it would make! 🌟♻️ 🎉 Join the Movement: Let’s spread the word! Share this post, tag your friends, and inspire them to upcycle. Together, we can turn fashion into a force for good! 🌟🙌 connect@gats.org.in #WorldUpcyclingDay #SustainableFashion #VintageRevival #CircularEconomy #GATS #FashionForChange 🌟🌿👗🌎🌟 Support Partners: Collection & Recycling: HSN ECOTEX Sorting, Upcycling & Downcycling: Respun Design, Upcycling and Finishing: Aadi Sustainability Solutions Pvt. B. Fashion Design || IILM’26 || DAV’22

Respun your Choices Yesterday, IILM University, Gurugram hosted a visit for Fashion Design, Psychology and BBA students to Respun, Panipat, Haryana headed by Professor Nirbhay Rana for providing an epiphany regarding the textile recycling process that goes behind the scenes in the fashion industry. Many wouldn’t know but there are two types of textile waste! Pre-consumer which has been discarded or rejected by the manufacturers and Post-consumer is what we as “conscious consumer” discard and throw after wearing or when it doesn’t fit anymore. Post-consumer textile waste is hard to recycle as there are materials which take long to recycle and decompose as well only 10% of the waste gets recycled in India and rest gets dumped as the whole recycling process has 6 steps which a item has to go through and post-consumer items pose a problem as majority of the items are created with a blended composition which is harder to recycle. It is being advised and said that single/mono composed (either made with natural fibres or in one colour) items will hold more value when recycled and upscaled. Respun had taken the initiative almost a decade back to the do the needful and rigorous and provide us with the fibre and yarn that has been recycled and is now being upscaled into wonderful products. I as a fashion student and enthusiast thank Respun for hosting us and enlightening us about the textile recycling and industrial challenges that are in process and yet to be tackled. #consumerproducts #recycledfashion #postconsumer #preconsumer #upscale #challenges #fashionindustry #textilewaste #fibre #yarn #conciousness #awarenessiskey #knowledge
