Amidst Goa's high per capita plastic waste generation, primarily fuelled by year-round tourism, our organisation has taken proactive steps to address this pressing issue. Partnering Sampurn(e)arth Environment Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Mineral Foundation Of Goa, and the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC), we've initiated a comprehensive waste management project in Bicholim and Sattari. Our efforts include the establishment of a state-of-the-art sorting facility in Bicholim, capable of segregating waste into 13 distinct fractions, ranging from PET bottles to aluminium and coconut waste. This facility not only recovers recyclable materials for processing but also efficiently manages non-recyclable waste by baling and sending it for co-processing in cement factories. We take immense pride in this initiative, as the plant successfully processes over 2,000 MT of waste annually, including low-value plastic waste notorious for contributing to Goa's littering challenges. This project stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable waste management practices. Godrej Good and Green

During the fire safety drill at the Garbage Treatment Plant in Bicholim, our safai sathis, practiced understanding different types of fires and using appropriate fire extinguishers for each type. They learned that for Class A fires, involving combustible materials like wood or paper, water or foam extinguishers are suitable. For Class B fires, which involve flammable liquids such as gasoline or oil, they were trained to use foam or powder extinguishers. In the case of Class C fires, caused by flammable gases like propane or methane, they were instructed to use dry powder or CO2 extinguishers. Additionally, the safai sathis received training in basic first aid for fire injuries. #firesafety #safetyfirst
