[en] Numerical simulations enable us to understand complicated particle beam dynamics and plasma properties. These simulations require an accurate model of charged particle generation by different physical processes. This paper reviews the physical processes and the latest charged particle dynamics simulations for emissions from solid surface and neutral gases. (author)

[en] Experiments on a compact plasma focus device (PFD) have been carried out in order to understand the accelerating mechanisms caused by the interaction of a supersonic plasma with an external magnetic field in a collisionless environment. The present study evaluates the effects of the inner electrode geometry of the PFD on the plasma flow and the resulting beam current. (author)

[en] For higher beam power, evaluating the impedance with multi-bunch is necessary at the J-PARC MR. The imaginary part of the impedance, the betatron tune shifts induced by the space charge effects were estimated and the quantitative evaluation is on-going. Understanding on the dependence of the bunch distant is one of the keys to impedance model reconstruction. The investigation on the time structure of the wake field is discussed in this report. AbstractAbstract
[en] Career-envelope phase (CEP) stabilized seeding is necessary to generate the attosecond x-ray pulse via higher order harmonics generation driven by a mid-infrared free electron laser (FEL). To realize the seeding for an FEL, we are developing a mid-infrared light source based on a difference frequency generation between the light pulse of the fiber laser and its wavelength shifting. We report the overview of the CEP stabilized mid-infrared light source for seeding an FEL oscillator, and the present situation of the fiber laser development. (author)

[en] Higher harmonic radiation emitted from a free electron moving on a circular trajectory forms a helical wavefront and carries an orbital angular momentum. Here, we investigate the phase structure of radiation emitted from an electron moving on an elliptical and a linear trajectory. These electron motions can be induced by an elliptically polarized undulator and an elliptically polarized laser field. (author)

[en] The expansion joint is made for the separation between building and tunnel in the SPring-8 storage ring. This expansion is useful for not only slow movement but also vibration. A 40cm deep expansion is cut between cooling machine room and maintenance path. This expansion reduced vibration amplitude by 5∼10 dB and is found to be valid. The phase difference by expansion makes complex changes with frequency. The phase velocity is measured to be about 1 km/s. The vibration of machine room seems to travel through the 40 cm slab because the soil under the slab is soft. (author)
