Founded in 1988, IECD is an international development organization with activities in fifteen countries in the Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian Ocean, and Southeast Asia. IECD has been involved in projects in Lebanon since 1989 and has established 4 offices in Lebanon covering the whole country. IECD’s key ambition is to develop youth employability through education and vocational training. We give beneficiaries the know-how to improve their standards of living, become responsible actors in their countries, and contribute to a more equal society. Today we implement 13 projects that strengthen youth and vulnerable persons’ professional and social insertion in Lebanon through quality education, vocational training empowerment and supporting small and medium businesses.

Since October, we have been working hand-in-hand with our partners in #Lebanon to implement emergency cultural heritage protection measures in #Beirut and the south of the country. Yesterday, ALIPH updated delegates on some of this ongoing work during the UNESCO meeting of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict that placed 34 cultural properties in #Lebanon under enhanced protection. Hear David Sassine, an ALIPH Project Manager, deliver our statement about our response in #Lebanon. To date, ALIPH has committed USD 150,000 for the following emergency measures: 🏛️ Securing museum collections, safeguarding 20,000 museum objects 🏛️ Helping displaced heritage professionals find safety and ensure safekeeping of heritage sites 🏛️ Rehabilitating damaged historical building in #Baalbek city We work in close partnership with the Lebanese Directorate General of Antiquities, Biladi NGO, IECD Lebanon, and the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training. We stand by our partners in #Lebanon, just as we did after the 2020 #Beirut blast. Since 2020, we have supported 35 projects around the country for a total of USD 5.3 million.

An initiative by IECD Lebanon and Semeurs d'Avenir Association, funded by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency marks a significant undertaking in our ongoing social endeavors 🇱🇧 👩🍳👨🍳 Our trainees from the "Hospitality" and "Commis Chef" Trainings, in partnership with Agonista and Reflekt, prepared around 1000 meals per day for displaced individuals.
