Exciting PUM project at a vocational training centre in Bangladesh! In Barisal, Bangladesh, Aloshikha VTC is empowering young people from low-income families with skills in mechanical engineering, IT, tailoring, and more. But the school needed a boost in management and teaching quality. In comes, PUM expert joke bos, who teamed up with Aloshikha to make a real difference. Through workshops and strategic guidance, teachers learned new techniques to engage students. The result? A stronger, more efficient school ready to connect students with real-world opportunities. In the heart of Tanzania’s Lindi region, the Taruchina Cashew Growers Association is working to improve lives through sustainable cashew farming. Formed by dedicated local farmers, Taruchina has set its sights on enhancing the quality and quantity of its harvest while moving beyond raw cashew sales to provide value-added products. Their goals are creating local jobs, fueling economic growth, and advocating for fair practices in the cashew industry. Harbest, a leading supplier of agricultural products in the Philippines, is empowering its consultants to support farmers sustainably. With a strong commitment to resilience over pesticides, Harbest partnered with PUM experts Ineke van Meggelen and Jos van Meggelen in June 2024 for hands-on training in plant nutrition and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). By July, Harbest consultants had designed their own training sessions, starting with an internal session to onboard colleagues. In September, they took their knowledge to the field, training 227 farmers across eight villages. Community Homestay Network supports a network of community homestays across Nepal. They connect travellers with local communities, where the visitors experience authentic hospitality and learn about the real Nepal, while leaving behind a positive impact. In collaboration with PUM expert Paul van Hek and the Nepal Tourism Board - NTB they hosted multiple sessions to unlock the power of community tourism. One such session, entitled “Promoting Nepal Beyond the Mountains”, was aimed at team members to raise awareness among tourism professionals about how community tourism can be a key differentiator rather than a niche market.
