NorDan awarded the European Quality Trade Mark 🌟 The EOQ, European Organization for Quality has recognised the Norwegian-designed NorDan NTech timber windows and doors for the European Quality Trade Mark acknowledgement.   The EOQ has instituted the European Quality Trade Mark to recognise European companies and products that excel in quality-related matters. The criteria include requirements for quality management systems, fiscally sustainable business operations, products mainly sourced within Europe, and high customer satisfaction. Ulf Gustavsson, Secretary General of EOQ, European Organization for Quality: “It is with great pride that EOQ welcomes the NorDan Group as a new EQTM-acknowledged company with its NTech window and door series. NorDan and its products meet the strict conditions EOQ requires with the EQTM label. In addition, the CEO of NorDan Group, Mr. Dag Kroslid, is the EOQ 2023 EQL (European Quality Leader).   Dag Kroslid, CEO of NorDan Gruppen: “The EQTM trademark is an esteemed quality mark for European products of very high quality. It emphasises design quality, manufacturing quality and service quality. NorDan is proud to be awarded the EQTM for the NTech series, our largest product range in the NorDan Group. The quality of our products is a unique selling point for NorDan in all our markets, using wood as a sustainable material. Our products also have some of the lowest carbon footprint values in our industry and are preferred by customers valuing quality and life cycle costs.   Morten Røkbuvold, Manager of NorDan Competence Center NTech:  “NorDan has a long and proud woodworking tradition where the focus on quality, safety and sustainability have always been guiding stars. We are therefore very proud that our door and window series NTech has been EQTM approved”.

NorDan invests in glass technology startup Hybridized Looking to further reduce the carbon footprint of future windows, NorDan takes active ownership of the glass tech startup Hybridized.   With the investment in Hybridized, the main goal is to further push the envelope for carbon footprint reduction of glazing, the main negative contributor to timber window construction. Following the investment, NorDan Group CEO, Dag Kroslid, will join the Hybridized board.   The push for improved energy efficiency in windows comes with a cost. When combining the often large dimensions of windows in modern buildings with triple-layered glazing units, the total weight, amount of raw material and light transmission become challenging to scale. Also, the triple-layered insulated glass unit (IGU) constitutes more than 50% of the global warming potential of a window, measured in kg CO2e. By replacing the middle of the three panes of glass with an ultra-thin flexible material, Hybridized’s unique production technology promises to reduce weight, reduce the amount of glass, and reduce the global warming potential of the IGU with some 30% (for a triple-layered IGU). It comes together with an increase in light transmission. The Hybridized production technology also enables the implementation of additional smart technologies with reduced costs and material use.   Atle Geving, Hybridized CEO, said: “We have a unique solution to a problem that will only become more important in the future: Achieving more with less. With substantial industry partnerships with suppliers such as LiSEC, Edgetech and several customers interested, we look forward to establishing production. Our solution can contribute to reducing buildings’ energy consumption and goes hand in hand with reduced weight and use of materials through our hybrid insulation glass.   With NorDan on board, we get an innovative industrial partner with an ambitious product sustainability strategy. In addition, they have a clear manufacturing heritage and know what it takes to scale complex manufacturing processes and bring innovations to the markets in which they operate.”   Dag Kroslid, NorDan Gruppen CEO, said: “At NorDan, we are actively involved in discovering, supporting and investing in solutions that can improve product sustainability. Innovative glazing technology is crucial in reducing the embodied carbon of the windows we manufacture. Through partnerships with suppliers and customers, we can accelerate the carbon footprint reduction. We look forward to innovating, developing and disrupting together with Hybridized. Our investment into Hybridized is part of a larger step-up program that NorDan runs, with the ORAE® glass from Saint-Gobain as another recently launched initiative.”   Both NorDan and Hybridized will be present at the glasstec – International Trade Fair on 22-25 October 2024 and look forward to meeting other industry leaders.

Safety is always at the top of our agenda. But once a year, we dedicate an entire day to the group-wide Health & Safety Forum 🚧 in NorDan.   Making «Safety First» our second nature is about much more than just reminding ourselves of safety's importance in our day-to-day operations. By setting aside a full day dedicated to safety, we share knowledge, experiences, and best practices across all countries, factories, workplaces, and markets in which we operate.   This week, the annual NorDan Group Health & Safety Forum was held in Poland this week, and throughout the day, safety was discussed in all its forms. From creating safe workplaces to ensuring the safe use and maintenance of our products in the marketplace, we prioritise safety as our number one concern.    A big thank you to NorDan Polska for hosting the hybrid event. The same goes to Kristoffer Gjøtterud, Jörgen Olsson and Dag Kroslid in the organising committee. Finally, thank you to all speakers and participants who joined forces to learn and improve on the most important subject we work with every day. We already look forward to next year!   #safetyfirst #PerfektSamspill #healthsafety

Aiming for new heights with aluminium! With the opening of NorDan UAB's completely refurbished manufacturing facilities, the NorDan Gruppen is taking a new leap in aluminium products, doubling the total production capacity this and next year.   The Maizeikiai factory in Lithuania has been part of the NorDan Group since 2015 and has undergone significant investments in recent years. The complete upgrade of both the interior and the exterior now serves as a clear symbol of NorDan’s ambitions to provide a full range of products and façades based on both SAPA and Schüco solutions.   With nearly 100 guests and employees participating during the opening, there was no doubt that aluminium growth across NorDan’s key markets is at the top of the agenda.   NorDan Group CEO Dag Kroslid said: It was fantastic to attend the opening ceremony at NorDan UAB in Mažeikiai this week. The upgrading of factory and admin buildings is now complete, and our Mažeikiai factory is a top modern production site for high end windows and doors in aluminium. We are also pleased to announce from the Group, that in 2025 we will double the production capacity in Mažeikiai. In my speech I congratulated all employees and the management team of NorDan UAB, and thanked them for the very good work they do. It was also great to meet our suppliers, who are so important to our success within aluminium windows and doors.   Group CMO Johannes Rasmussen said: Only seven years ago, what is now an integrated part of our product offering was entirely new to us. I am incredibly proud that NorDan today is selling fantastic aluminium solutions in all markets, providing optimal indoor conditions to the millions of people living and working in buildings with NorDan windows. It is all thanks to a Perfekt Samspill between colleagues, suppliers, building companies and architects.   NorDan UAB Managing Director, Giedrius Žilėnas, commented: During the last 5 years, we have substantially transformed as an organisation. The dedication of our employees, collaboration with our colleagues from the NorDan Group, our suppliers and local communities, sets NorDan UAB for the future growth. #NorDan #aluminium #PerfektSamspill
