🌍 Advancing Asia’s Clean Energy Transition 🌍 ABC Impact Fund II has closed a US$50M investment in Tekoma Energy, joining the HSBC Energy Transition Infrastructure Team to support Tekoma’s next growth phase. This partnership underscores our commitment to scaling impactful, renewable energy solutions in Asia. Commenting on the investment, CIO Shao Ming Tan shared, "The urgency of climate action calls for timely, effective energy solutions, particularly in regions like Asia that are both rapidly developing and highly exposed to climate risks. Japan’s favorable regulatory environment and growing demand for renewable energy make it an attractive market for solar development." Based in Japan, Tekoma Energy is well-positioned to drive Asia’s renewable energy growth, with a proven record of delivering high-quality projects. The platform is building a 400MW+ solar portfolio across developed Asia, with plans to enter the battery energy storage sector and expand into Taiwan and South Korea in the coming year. Voices from the Portfolio, an impact study developed in collaboration with Dalberg, seeks to do that - the study uncovers the voices of those who are directly impacted by our investments. This study reflects a shared dedication to listening to the end-user—the families, communities, and individuals whose lives are shaped by our portfolio companies. Through surveys, interviews, and conversations with over 1,800 users, we gathered insights from five of our portfolio companies delivering health, education, and financial services: Chongho Bridge, Dami & Xiaomi, Nha Khoa Kim - Kim Dental, HCAH India, and Vedantu. We are delighted to be a part of Prabhav 2024 and to share our brand of impact investing in India, a vast and significant market for us. Sugandhi Matta, Chief Impact Officer, shared the stage with other partners during the segment“Risk, Return and Impact: The Tripod of Impact Investing" to discuss the growing attractiveness of the Indian market for impact investing and the continued need for funding for #climate and #social impact. The panel had a rousing discussion on the need for innovation in order to scale impact, who the underserved are and what their needs are, and how to catalyse more and varied investors to enter the impact space.

ABC Impact held a series of investor information seminars and meetings in Seoul recently, where we shared our mission, investment thesis, and proprietary impact methodology with a select group of Seoul Korea-based institutions who are keen to learn more about impact investing. We also discussed the potential for impact at scale in Asia, how our Fund I portfolio companies address social and environmental challenges in the region, and our strong ecosystem. We are very heartened by the interest in collaboration and partnerships from our South Korean friends as we continue our journey in impact investing.
