Hello everyone :)) I am happy to share that SMU SIC is halfway through the academic year of AY24/25! My journey at SMU SIC has been enriching and purposeful. Thus, here is a short reflection on what we did this sem! SMU SIC started the year with an enriching 7-week session on our experiential track and brought new friends to the family! Welcoming over 25 SMU students (undergrads and postgrads) and over 10 industry professionals to share their experiences with our members. We'd like to thank Sean Tan, President of our very own parent organisation, Social Impact Catalyst, for starting the first session with a BANG! Not missing one of the biggest industry players in the social entrepreneurial landscape, Alwyn Ang and Erwin Chan, PhD from raiSE SG, sharing meaningful insights with our members. Also, Nuryanee Anisah from Commenhers shares the highlights of her startup as a student entrepreneur, and lastly, Fion Mak from We Are Caring on their unique take on their perspective of how we can each do a part in the migrant community! We also invited our top 2 groups (Retrory- Vycus S. Kirthi Vasshni Logasundar Janelle Tan and Avocuddle - Hui Min Leong Chloe Ng Ancina Pang) on our graduation day for our experiential track aka Social Sharing Day, to share their ideas during our flagship networking event - Social Pulse ❤️ We are also proud of all our SMU SIC members for completing the track and starting their social entrepreneurship journey! We would also like to thank, Randy Ng, Alwyn Ang and Sean Tan for judging our groups during Social Sharing Day and giving meaningful feedback! To SMU SIC members: Social Sharing Day and Social Pulse is not the end of our journey, it is just the beginning! We do hope to see you guys grow even more and stay connected with us! A BIG & special thanks to all our esteemed panel of speakers: J.J. YiXin Chuan 庄逸馨, founder of rehyphen®, Elisa Lim, founder of Will & Well, Arun Ratnaa, Director, Sales And Marketing of Bettr, Wei Liang Lim, founder of ThinkX Global, Hernping Ang, founder of IASH.SG for giving feedback to our SIC groups and sharing their take on the social entrepreneurial landscape. Especially thankful to Lien Centre for Social Innovation, SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship for sponsoring and joining us to reach out to our fellow budding entrepreneurs in this meaningful event! ❤️ 🌅 I would like to give a HUGE SHOUTOUT to my exco team for being so motivated! 🌟 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 SMU Social Impact Catalyst 🌟 Thrilled to have completed the 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬! Over the past semester, my group and I have worked together to bring a potential social entrepreneurial idea to life. We've also had the privilege of learning from inspiring business owners who are making waves in the local social scene. 💙 Our idea, 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘎𝘺𝘮🌿, is all about reimagining fitness and repurposing food waste. We set out to combine sustainability and fitness in a way that’s both impactful and exciting. The concept? Integrate portable food composters with fitness equipment, turning exercise into a meaningful activity that benefits both the individual and the environment. So grateful for the friendships and shared passion in making a difference. Here’s to a sustainable future! 🌍💪

Celebrating our first pitch of "GreenGym" to the panel from raiSE SG and SMU Social Impact Catalyst 🌿. I am honored to have worked with my team members: Ruotong Kong, Megan Kwek and Raye Yap throughout the semester on our very first social enterprise. GreenGym 🌱 features a unique blend of sustainability and fitness through our tagline: "Reimagining Fitness and Repurposing Food Waste". This idea of sustainable fitness came to us with our passion to create a positive impact on the environment and the youths. The concept of introducing portable food composter to fitness equipment is something that is very new and exciting to the market. Through this initiative we hope to work with community centers and fitness providers to make exercising a meaningful activity both personally and socially. I would like to use this chance to thank SMU Social Impact Catalyst for giving us the opportunity to learn what it takes to become social entrepreneurs and to build our very own business with societal change at heart ❤️. Throughout the semester we have gone through ideation, market analysis to pitching and eventually receiving valuable feedbacks. The experience really helped developing our passion and making it closer to reality. I am grateful and is super excited to see where our GreenGym will bring us ⭐️. #greengym #socialimpact
