“I am torn between causing my pupils distress and educating them about something that needs their attention.” As an educator, what would you do? We know we need to talk about the climate crisis but it can be emotionally draining for everyone involved. We experience this ourselves, at Force of Nature, working in the sector every day. We hope our CPD session for educators will support you in helping young people navigate their climate emotions. So, join us on 25th Nov at 5:30-7:30pm GMT to talk about: ✨ How to facilitate difficult conversations with young people about the climate crisis ✨ The reasons young people feel disempowered to take action ✨ The intersection of climate change and mental health 🎟️ Get your tickets here: https://lnkd.in/g88vAtBc P.s. If ticket price is a barrier for you, please reach out to partnerships@forceofnature.xyz and we can offer you a reduced rate and discuss group discounts. #CareerDevelopment #CPD #GreenCareers #Educators #ClimateEmotions #ClimateEducation #GreenSchools

"What's needed goes beyond a simple call-out. We need a massive culture change.” On the ground at #ClimateWeekNYC, “intergenerational collaboration” became a catchphrase. Yet we met with despairing youth activists burnt out of energy, time and resources. It left us questioning how intergenerational collaboration could be touted as a solution without material support to make it happen. Now COP29 is here, it's time companies put their money where their mouth is and fund young people! Here’s what we learnt in NYC: We asked 27 young people* whether they were remunerated for the events they contributed to as speakers, organisers and facilitators. Only 1 of the 27 respondents reported that all the events they contributed to were remunerated. Most people reported that their attendance at Climate Week was self-funded, relied on mutual aid, fundraising or required family support. Over half paid between $1000-3000 to attend. This movement wouldn’t exist without the courage and commitment of young people. That's why we need equal access to these spaces and that can start with funding. So, here’s our call to action: - If you're a funder or have access to funding, please reach out to hello@forceofnature.xyz. We're already getting requests from young people who need funding to attend COP29. - If you're a young person in need of funding, comment on this post and funders please contact them directly! Thank you to the organisations who contributed financially to young people’s participation! To name a few: Big Change, Save The Humans, United States Climate Action Network (USCAN), Earth Minutes, IKEA Foundation, ASU Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory, New York Society for Ethical Culture, Eoliann, The Climate Museum, Imperial College London, Youth Climate Justice Fund, Climate Live, Clinton Global Initiative. Clover Hogan, Mark Haver, Alexandra Maria Azevedo, Ian Muir Smith, Maksim Batuyev, Kat Hamilton, Rachel Kiki Tabizel, Hailey Campbell, Finn Does *aged 19-29 Note: Climate Week NYC is a collection of events held by 100s of different organisations. We highlight the above not to highlight the Climate Group for lack of funding for young people, but for a mass culture shift from all organisations involved. #ClimateWeekNYC #COP29 #IntergenerationalExchange

At x+why, we’re uniting organisations & leaders that believe business should be a force for good. Working in the impact sector can carry a lot of emotional implications, especially when you feel faced with the realities of the climate crisis, daily. We’re so excited to be adopting the concept to host a Cafe in partnership with Force Of Nature. To bring our community of changemakers together, to create a space that’s all about #listening, #sharing and #harnessingconnection to support one another with the ultimate aim of evolving the Cafe to offer further support to both of our communities.
