✨ In celebration of #NationalEngineeringDay and this year’s theme of engineering role models, we’re spotlighting Dr Gladys Benghalia, chartered engineer and head of electrification manufacturing programmes at NMIS. ✨ Gladys’s career journey has been shaped by mentors from all walks of life, showing that there’s no single ‘ideal’ path to success in engineering. Instead, she draws inspiration from role models close to home who encouraged her to push boundaries and embrace new opportunities. 💡 From a school friend who inspired her to join the NASA-supported Scottish Space School to her PhD supervisor who balanced academic research with industry impact, and the leaders she works with today who are driving the future of manufacturing through innovation, Gladys’s journey reminds us that inspiration often comes from those around us. 🤝 Her impressive career includes a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, a PhD at the Weir Advanced Research Centre focused on fatigue-resistant weld cladding technology, and industry leading collaborations with Rolls-Royce and Boeing on residual stress characterisation at the AFRC. Alongside her current role at NMIS, Gladys is also committed to mentoring the next generation of engineers 🙌 🎉 Let’s celebrate the engineers who inspire us and continue to support the next generation! 🎉 Share your engineering role models in the comments below 👇
