🎉 Boost Your Menu’s Fibre Content! 🍝 We’re excited to be featured alongside Wildfarmed regenerative flours in TUCO Ltd’s August magazine as ingredient options to enhance sustainability and health on menus. Supplant pasta is highlighted as a quick and simple way to incorporate more fibre into recipes, in line with the Menus of Change University Research Collaborative principle to 'Make whole, intact grains the new norm' by using more of what is grown on farms. A huge thank you to Development Chef Alex Sim from the University of Bristol for championing Supplant, and to TUCO for the feature. 👉 Reach out to Megan or Ruben to discover how Supplant pasta can elevate your menus this coming semester. #CulinaryInnovation #FiberBoost #HealthyEating #SustainableFood #ChefSolutions
The Supplant Company
Food and Beverage Manufacturing
Making unique ingredients suitable for businesses, foodservice, & retail, by upcycling the forgotten half of the harvest
About us
We make brand new ingredients on the which the world's biggest consumer product companies are building the healthier, more sustainable and more abundant products of the future. Making system-wide impact means starting from the beginning. We go all the way back to the farmyard, using agriculture’s most abundant renewable resource: fiber-rich side streams that don’t typically make their way into the food system, like stems, hulls, husks and cobs. We use deep science knowledge and analytics to identify unique opportunities. We then develop the science from manufacturing to application to create completely new and highly scalable solutions to global problems. With our first ingredient, Supplant™ sugars from fiber, your favorite treats can look, feel and taste like they’re supposed to. But because it’s made from fiber, sugars from fiber is lower in calories, has a low glycemic response compared to glucose, and is prebiotic.

Hear from Dr Tom Simmons, Founder & CEO of Cambridge Glycoscience / The Supplant Company as he presents on "Value added ingredients from agri side streams” at the 7th EU Starch Value Chain conference (15-17 October 2024, Berlin) along with other discussions surrounding the theme "Optimising starch full value chains in the EU”. 7th EU Starch Value Chain covers a full value-chain approach discussing issues from innovations in seeds to achieve better yields, transition towards sustainable farming system to the agility of starch biorefineries that produce a wide variety of ingredients serving all bioeconomy outlets, enabling the sector to be near zero-waste. Proteins produced by the EU starch industry (e.g. cereal crop- maize, wheat, barley, and rice), peas and starch potatoes are valuable components that will significantly contribute to the competitiveness of the EU starch industry. In its continuous research effort to valorise the whole plant, the EU starch industry has developed outlets for plant-based protein products and their Innovative functionalities. Most don't know about the big gaping hole in the world of sugar reduction 🍬 but it's plain as day when looking at supermarket aisles 👀. That's sugar reduction in food versus beverages. 🥤 Sugar-free mainstream beverages have been a commercial reality for decades. And they're really pervasive right now. 🍩 But still today the same thing is not true of mainstream food. To date, sugar regulations and taxes have almost exclusively focused on beverages. But not because that's where the damage is. Most sugar in people's diets is in food - can be 4x more! Rather, it's because there has been no mainstream solutions to the problem. Well, the avalanche 🏔 is finally here - and falling on both sides of the Atlantic. FDA recently announced a drive to enforce mandatory warnings for high sugar on all food products USDA recently announced a decision to limit added sugars in all school meals. Now, World Health Organization wants the next UK government to expand coverage of the sugar tax to cakes, biscuits and chocolate. This is going to be a tumultuous time for the food industry. Fortunately, The Supplant Company is here with the only solution that will ever fix the problem. https://lnkd.in/eAJYGZWA

You've probably heard that "sugar is the new tobacco" many times before. Finally it looks like US sugar is having its 'tobacco moment'. 😲 In many countries, mandatory front-of-pack labelling for foods warn consumers of risk just like on cigarette cartons. But for many years the world's biggest economy 🇺🇸 has resisted. Now, the FDA is officially aiming for mandatory labelling on US foods as well! Whatever you think about mandated labelling, it's hard to argue its efficacy. 🥤 In Chile, “high in” labels dramatically reduced the consumption of sugary beverages. 🍽 In Israel, red labels have led to significant positive changes in 76% of the population’s food buying habits. 🚬 Americans who smoke is 11% today compared to nearly 50% back in the day an life expectancy has risen nearly 11 years. Sometimes I get asked, what's the 'why now?' for The Supplant Company. One answer is, because we've just invented the big solution right now. But these tectonic social and regulatory shifts are a major driver for what's going to come, as evidenced by the history of tobacco. In the words of the authors in TIME: "While front-of-package labeling is a crucial first step, education and awareness alone will only get us so far. To drive even more significant change that will lead to a healthier population, we must also incentivize the production and widespread distribution of healthier alternatives. These alternatives—a packaged cookie with healthier ingredients, for instance—must be just as delicious, and readily available as those loaded with sugar." America 🇺🇸 (and the rest of the world 🌎), we're here to help! Ruben Tadmor, Megan Twentyman-Jones, Daniela Moura O. Beltrame,Tom Nicholson and the rest of the team have their ears to the ground on this as we bring healthier sweet products to mainstream accounts across the US

That's a wrap! A big thank you to Megan for representing Supplant at the Food & Drink Expo. Great to see such strong focus on sustainability and nutrition at the show and excited to continue these conversations and collaborate towards a more sustainable food system 🌍🚀
💡 Insightful day networking at Food & Drink Expo, The Restaurant Show and the Farm Shop & Deli Show yesterday. Sustainability, nutrition, innovation and convenience took centre stage 🌍🚀🥗. Brands are clearly stepping up the game to meet consumers’ demands. From edible packaging solutions to countless plant-based offerings and clean-label ingredients, the focus on #sustainability and #health stood out. It wasn't all about the tasty samples 🍽🥂 Having all three shows under one roof was a nice opportunity to connect with new B2B customers, restaurants, hotels, farm shops, universities and wholesalers – this is the place where the UK food industry meets. Looking forward to continue the great conversations and build a better food system together! 💫🌟 #Innovation #FutureOfFood #Sustainability #Health #FDE2024
