Thank you to Derek Walker, Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, and everyone who joined us yesterday in Trimsaran for an inspiring day! The hempcrete demonstration by Wellspring Homes, along with the tour of the new Trimsaran Food Centre and our Mushroom Growing Unit, Ty Cynan, highlighted our commitment to sustainable innovation. The transformation of the derelict Miners' Welfare Hall into a much-needed Food Centre for the region is a significant step in scaling up the work of Tetrim Teas. We’re passionate about ensuring our business, products, and facilities are sustainable and ethical. For almost 5 years I've been trying to persuade people in construction to build with hempcrete. As a local councillor told me recently, that's not a long time when you talk about change in government or an industry. Hempcrete has been used for 25 years in the UK and more than 50 in Europe...again that's not ages relative to some materials. I only joined the hemp story a few years back. There are many people who have been beating this drum for decades, and invested way more energy than I have. I've shed my fair share of tears along the way too, it's been and still is a challenge. I heard someone say the other day they aren't interested in their legacy when they die, they want to affect people now. I realised that's so true...all we have is now! In a world full of so many challenges, hemp won't solve them all but I'm yet to find a pound for pound building material which offers the same benefits to the Planet, People, the Economy as Hemp, so for me as an Engineer Entrepreneur who is looking for systems that improve the Now as much as the Future I'm sold.
