Falcons visited mass timber producers Arboreal, who produced the wood that’s made our beautiful new Ruta 104 Learning Campus. I would love to be a kid again and attend our own school! Not the schools I attended (they were horrible😣) but the ones we design. 🍃When I imagine all the amazing things the kids will discover, learn, and experience at The Garzón School, I am filled with joy.💫

Our amazing educators Fiorella Carrazzone & Jimena María Bello had the oportunity of attending the International Phonetics and Phonology Conference in Mendoza, Argentina. Together, they presented "Explorando el habla en L2: inteligibilidad, comprensibilidad y competencia comunicativa intercultural en la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera," sharing insights on the role of phonetics and phonology teaching in bilingual education, along with research findings from a study conducted at Universidad de Montevideo. Additionally, Fiorella presented her own talk titled "Evaluación de la implementación del enfoque de Translenguaje en TGS: fomentando la comunicación efectiva, inclusividad y éxito académico en un entorno intercultural," which focused on our translanguaging approach at The Garzón School and its impact on fostering bilingualism in an intercultural environment. We were proudly represented by our top educators! It was an incredible experience connecting with fellow professionals from around the world!

Today, The Garzón School proudly celebrated UN International Literacy Day 2024, focusing on this year's theme: "Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace." This theme deeply resonates with our diverse community, where linguistic diversity and intercultural exchange are at the heart of our educational philosophy. To commemorate this important day, our students engaged in a series of enriching activities. They created a “Literacy Peace Poster” in art class, contributing words and artwork in their native languages to symbolize peace. We wrapped up the day with a Multilingual Readathon, where older students read stories to younger students in various languages!
