India's social sector is riding a tide with a 15% annual rise in funding, increasing from $135 billion in 2017 to $276 billion by 2022. The impact investing market is projected to reach $27.1 trillion by 2030, signaling significant interest in impact-focused ventures. India Accelerator (IA), in partnership with the United Nations Technology Innovation Labs (UNTILs), has launched Impact Labs to support startups focused on sustainable development goals (SDGs). Since 2024, Impact Labs has invested $2.5 million in over 20 startups addressing challenges like climate action, healthcare and financial inclusion etc. Munish Bhatia, Co-founder of IA, highlighted the accelerator’s belief in startups' ability to create meaningful change, with Impact Labs catalyzing ventures that prioritize both profit and impact. Impact Labs aims to invest an additional $5 million from private capital and secure another $5 million through CSR and government partnerships for healthcare, climate, and assistive technology projects.
