It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our colleague, friend, and founding partner Leon Moed. Leon established Moed de Armas Architects with Raúl de Armas in 1991 after a distinguished career as a Partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Over the course of 60 years he was involved in more than 25 million square feet of construction, including momentous projects in New York City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and internationally. Brilliant at solving problems, Leon was always deliberate and methodical. He believed his highest responsibility was in building young architects. His mentorship was his greatest work, and his legacy lives on in the generations of architects that have followed in his footsteps. MdeAS will lead a tour of the building through the new lobby and amenities, into the addition, and onto the terraces, including the 17,000 sf roof park. Senior Director Daniela Doneva Petrusev led a tour of PENN 2 with NanaWall Systems and Vornado Realty Trust as part of The American Institute of Architects (AIA)'s Archtober event series. Participants learned about the different kinds of operable glass wall systems used throughout the project and the benefits of designing seamless indoor/outdoor experiences.
