It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our colleague, friend, and founding partner Leon Moed. Leon established Moed de Armas Architects with Raúl de Armas in 1991 after a distinguished career as a Partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Over the course of 60 years he was involved in more than 25 million square feet of construction, including momentous projects in New York City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and internationally. Brilliant at solving problems, Leon was always deliberate and methodical. He believed his highest responsibility was in building young architects. His mentorship was his greatest work, and his legacy lives on in the generations of architects that have followed in his footsteps. Featured Projects: Children's Hospital at Montefiore, New York, NY; 900 19th Street NW, Washington, D.C.; Gotham Center, Long Island City, NY; Hippodrome, New York, NY; 545 Madison Avenue, New York, NY; 650 California Street, San Francisco, CA; 200 Park Avenue, New York, NY

Senior Director Daniela Doneva Petrusev led a tour of PENN 2 with NanaWall Systems and Vornado Realty Trust as part of The American Institute of Architects (AIA)'s Archtober event series. Participants learned about the different kinds of operable glass wall systems used throughout the project and the benefits of designing seamless indoor/outdoor experiences.
I had the pleasure of attending the NanaWall Biophilic Walking Tour, hosted by Jerald Kohrs and Daniela Doneva Petrusev. We explored PENN 2, a remarkable project reimagined by MdeAS Architects as part of the complete redevelopment of The Penn District. PENN 2 stands as a modern workplace model offering double height, column-free workspaces, rooftop parks, and vibrant public areas. The innovative use of a triple-glazed curtain wall optimizes energy efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. Thank you, NanaWall Systems, for the insightful tour and the opportunity to engage with such progressive design. #PENN2 #BiophilicDesign #MdeASArchitects #ArchitectureTour #SustainableDesign #WorkplaceInnovation #ThePennDistrict #AIA #FutureOfWork #UrbanDesign #GlassArchitecture #DesignMatters #NYCArchitecture #ArchitecturalWalkTour
